Overview of the Dashboard

• The COVID-19 pandemic created an urgent need for timelyinformation to help monitor and mitigate the social and economicimpacts of the crisis. Responding to this need, the Zimbabwe NationalStatistics Agency (ZIMSTAT), together with the World Bank andUNICEF, designed a high-frequency telephone survey of householdsto measure the socio-economic impacts of COVID-19 in Zimbabwe.

• A team is working with ZIMSTAT to develop a data visualization toolwhich will display the trend in key socioeconomic indicators from thehigh-frequency telephone surveys.

Data dissemination

• ZIMSTAT previously relied heavily on traditional disseminationmethods such as workshops, print and electronic media

• The PR Unit which was set up in March 2020 to spearhead datadissemination and communication at ZIMSTAT is responsible for thisCommunication Strategy

• ZIMSTAT therefore collaborates with several institutions in dataproduction either as a technical or implementing partner

Page 6: COVID-19 ASSESSMENT DASHBOARD

• To improve data dissemination, developed an Open Data Portal(ODP) through technical assistance from AfDB as part of the AfricaInformation Highway

• The platform is not only dedicated to SDGs but allows the Agency toimplement a one-stop platform where users can explore all statisticaldata being disseminated including Economic, Demographic and Socialstatistics.

c) Publish through the SDGs page on which users can browse to visualize SDGsindicators.

d) Disseminate SDGs/ local metadata through a metadata page setup
