Dear Selection Committee:

I am writing to you regarding the Security Engineer internship mentioned on your website. As a

third year Computer Science student planning to specialize in information assurance, I feel that

this position would be a perfect fit for me by allowing me to experience the professional world of

computer security. I hope that by working with a well-respected company like CA, I will acquire

the skills necessary to join the fight against today’s complex cyber-attacks, something I am very

passionate about someday becoming a part of.

Ever since I was young, I have been picking apart the inner workings of both hardware and

software. During my studies at Stony Brook University, I have learned the ins and outs of how

software works from programming in low-level languages like MIPS Assembly and C. I have

also learned a great deal about high-level programming in Java from my Computer Science III

course, in which I developed a 4000 line program and finished top ten in my class. Outside of the

classroom, I have worked with the university’s Audio Visual Department, which is responsible

for installing, controlling, and maintaining the technology found in the school’s many classrooms

and lecture halls. I am also currently a member of the newly formed Machine Learning Club,

which I hope will give me a bit of insight into the world of learning algorithms.
