Dear Dr. Teston,
I am writing to inquire about possible grant writing openings at XYZ Nonprofit. I have
experience with grant writing research as well as other grant writing activities at Childrens Hunger Alliance, and I feel my skills could be an asset to your organization.
As a student intern with Childrens Hunger Alliance (CHA), I spent a significant amount of time researching and organizing grant opportunities appropriate for the organizations summer feeding initiatives, under the supervision of CHAs grant writing specialist. In addition, I drafted letters of intent as well as thank you letters and cover letters for funders and potential funders.
At the same time, I acted as the co-president of a student run non-profit, Nourish International, at
The Ohio State University and as a clinic case manager intern at Faith Mission homeless shelter.
I am completely acclimated to the fast paced and ever changing environment of the nonprofit
world, and I know how to balance my time to ensure high quality results in all of my endeavors
and projects. I am also skilled in public speaking, problem solving, and working with others.
As a recent graduate, Im passionate and excited to contribute my skills and experiences to XYZ Nonprofit. Because I truly believe in the mission of XYZ nonprofit, I am willing and eager to
learn everything your organization can teach me. I know my research experience can help your
organization achieve its funding goals. I would love to discuss potential grant writing positions
with your organization. Thank you so much. I look forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely,
Mckenzie Wirtz
