But no one looks forward to planning for disaster. Do you know what a disaster is? A disaster is an extreme event that can cause damage to our love ones and the things around us. An example of a disaster is a tornado or a flood. Although most times we are not sure when a disaster will happen, it is always best to prepare for them. To make sure everyone is safe; we should build an emergency kit. An emergency kit will have all the things we need in case of an emergency. Can you help me build one? Please have the following items:A large storage containerWaterBatteriesFlashlightsFoodRadioFirst aid kitWhistleCan openerClothesDusk MaskActivity: The speaker will direct the students by identifying each item. As each item is placed in the container by the teacher, the speaker will explain why each item will be used. The students will then be instructed to write their names and contact number and place in the container. The speaker will tell them it is important that authorizes know how to reach someone during an emergency. The speaker will inform the students that they can add items to the container as they need them. The container will be put in a safe place. The speaker will then have each student check off the list of items that was placed in the basket. Dont forget to your pets, or anyone who would need help in your disaster plan.*Thunderstorms can be exciting to watch, especially from the safety of your warm, comfy couch.
