Camera ShotsClose-up, this shows us how serious the commander is and the stress on his face suggests he has been doing this for a long time.

The logo appears telling the audience who the protagonists are and it allows people to understand what is going on. It also creates anticipation for the viewers. Camera Shots

Establishing Shot This is the first sight of the enemies ships that we see, it shows us that the people invading aren't human and that the people are out numbered, this makes the audience on edge very early in the film.

Long Shot This gives us a good view of the enemy and allows us to understand how enormous the aliens are, this makes the audience worried for the pilots and it makes them scared for humanity.Camera movements

The spinning camera creates the exciting the feeling of sudden movements and action, this allows the viewer to be emerged in the film and feel more involvedSoundThe use of non diegetic sound is shown when the missiles are shot from the jet, also the sound of the engines is greatly over-exaggerated.The use of diegetic sound is shown in the clips where the commander is speaking to the camera, by himself. Mise en - sceneCostume: The commander is in a uniform that is specific to the international fleet. The pilots are wearing ordinary jumpsuits.

Acting: Harrison Ford is acting as a commander of the international fleet.

Dialogue: the dialogue is short but extremely serious and sets the plot well.

Lighting: the director has made the lighting look as natural as possible in the jet fights, however he has focused the light on Harrison Fords face in the close ups Conclusion I believe that this film uses the `unknown aspect of space to emerge viewers and it creates an atmosphere of tension.
