JULEE SMITHNurse - Department of Corrections Associates in Arts and Science - Bermuda College -‘Class of 2003’Bachelors of Science - Hampton University ‘Class of 2008’

“I came to the College because I always wanted to bea nurse, and the College was my stepping stone tofulfilling my dream. I was also able to save money andwork at the same time, so that I could continue my

education and go away to university. After I left Bermuda College I went to Hamp-ton University to continue my studies and discovered that because my creditscould be transferred to Hampton, the transition was a lot easier.

My experience at Bermuda College was great, even though I wasn’t there likemost students every day. But when I was on campus my lecturers were alwaysavailable for me. If I needed help or questions I could reach out with a phone callor email, or pop in to see them at their office. I think Bermuda College is the rightstepping stone for the transition out of high school, and to prepare yourself for thatnext step of going away to university.”

THOMAS CHRISTOPHER FAMOUS Plant Technician - Bermuda Electric Light Company Certificate in Automotive Mechanics - ’Class of 1989’

“When I came to Bermuda College, it was at the Roberts Avenue campus, and I was in the automotive programme. Some ofmy instructors that come to mind are (the late) Mr. John Carey, Dean of Technology and Mr. Terry Greene. They were a realinspiration and help to me during my time at the College teaching me technical drawing and metal work. Bermuda Collegereally helped me be prepared for the world. I would have never worked at BELCO, if it wasn’t for the College. They just didn’t teach you the mechanics side, they also taught us the business side as well. Take advantage of Bermuda College. Itprovides great preparation for you to be able to go into your field of work.”

ALEX BUTTERFIELDRelationship Manager – Butterfield Asset ManagementAssociates in Business Administration - ‘Class of 2006’

“When I came to Bermuda College, I had a lot of people who helped me. Mr. Lyndon Jackson was one of the main peoplethat stood out; not only was he my advisor but he got me involved with Menspeak (Registered Student Organisation formales), which had just launched. I still come back and talk to the young men in Menspeak. Craig Simmons is another lec-turer that helped me as well. I also speak to his classes about investments, and the work I do. And I took many classes withDr. Trescot Wilson and I still reach out to him now and then just to touch base.

I have built a lot of great relationships with many people, from the President down to the staff. It’s a place I have a lot of respect for and I will always give back, like they did for me. Bermuda College is a great stepping stone, and a great place toget yourself prepared before you go away to university.

PANDORA CLEMONS Accountant – BF&M Insurance GroupAssociates in Business Administration - ‘Class of 2008’Degree of Bachelor of Business Administration/Accounting/Management - Mount Saint Vincent University - ‘Class of 2015’

“I have been to the College a couple of times, and always came back to finish what I started. Between 1981and 1983 I stud-ied the Certificate in Business Studies, but didn’t finish. Then in 1987 I came back to the College and finished it. Even whileI was working and during my breaks I always wanted to come back and finish my degree. So I came back again and in 2008,I received my Associates in Business Administration and then went to Mount Saint Vincent to receive my Bachelors.

Dr. Ahad was one of the people that really helped; also Dr. Wilson and Mr. Holder. I didn’t give up on my education, I mighthave taken a little longer than I expected, but I didn’t give up and kept on moving forwards. My hard work is paying off, andI am working in a career that I enjoy.”
