Workforce Development In Fairfield According to the U.S. Bu- reau of Labor Statistics, only about a third of U.S. jobs require any post-secondary education and less than a quarter of U.S. jobs require a bachelors degree or more. Still, well over two-thirds of high school graduates con- tinue to enroll in college. is has left our nation with 100’s of thousands of college graduates who can not find a job (and with no way to pay off their student loans). Meanwhile, many indus- tries are struggling to find skilled workers to fill 100’s of thousands job openings across the nation. In an effort to help solve this problem, the City of Fairfield and the Camas County School District, along with several local busi- nesses, have joined together to create a Makerspace Lab and training facility in Fair- field, Idaho. On February 1st, 2016, the group received a $25,000 micro-grant from Idaho Workforce Development. As part of the grant agree- ment, each member of the group will provide in-kind anks to the Gooding Volunteer Group (GVG), the Lions Park across the street from North Valley Academy has new play- ground equipment. Now GVG is ready for a new project at Gooding’s East Park. With some pieces of equipment about 30 years old, the playground at Gooding’s East Park (next to swimming pool on Illi- nois Street) has been wear- ing down. e equipment is in need of replacement and the Gooding Volun- teer Group, along with a core group of individuals, has teamed up to make this dream a reality. e new playground will be custom-designed to make it unique to Gooding. Also, with over 500 children in the Gooding County com- munity with special needs, this new facility will have New Project for Gooding Volunteers Last Wednesday the Di- etrich Blue Devil Ladies squeeked by Castleford with a score of 51 to 49 to win the Northside Confer- ence Tournament. After their loss to Dietrich, the Richfield Tigers Ladies took the long way around to second place in the tour- nament with victories over Hansen (52-22) Carey (44- 31) and Castleford (46- 43). e State 1AD2 Girls Tournament will begin this ursday at Nampa High School. On Tuesday of last week, the Shoshone Ladies lost to Valley 20 to 41 forcing them into another game with Oakley on ursday. Shoshone came out on top with continued on page 3..... Dietrich Ladies Take Northside Conference approval of the American Disability Association. Handicap accessibility and components for children with a wide range of disabil- ities will make East Park a place where all children can enjoy outdoor recreation. You can help this project by becoming sponsor, adopting a playground component, or by buying an engraved picket for the border fence. Sponsorship opportu- nities include: Partner of the Park $20,000; Life- time Supporter $10,000; Platinum, $5,000; Gold, $2,500; Silver $1,000; and Bronze $500. You can adopt a component by choosing from 34 different pieces of equipment. Pick- ets are $50 for the first one and $25 for the second (buy as many as you like). Please keep in mind that all dona- tions are tax deductible. You can find more infor- mation about the project on the Gooding Community Playground facebook page.
