AreA roundupWheeler County 4-H to hold photography contest

Wheeler County 4-H will be holding a photography contest, which is open to all Wheeler County 4-H members. All entries are due to the Wheeler County Extension Office by Friday, March 2, 2012. The 4-H State contest rules and categories will apply.

Pictures must be printed to 8x10 and mounted to either matte board or foam board. A label with the following information must be attached to the pictures: Name, Age, and Category. The first place winner in the senior age division will advance to the State contest. First place entries in the junior and intermediate age division will advance to the District contest. Clover Kid 4-H members are encouraged to enter photographs, however, are not eligible for competition in the contest.

All pictures will be on display in the Wheeler Ag and Family Life Center after the competition. Con-test rules may be picked up from the Extension office or call (806) 826-5243 for more information.

Livestock brand renewal deadlineAll cattle raisers must renew their livestock brands before March 1, 2012. The six month grace period

will be over, and un-renewed brands will be open to the public.

school counselors office now. Each year Top O’ Texas CattleWomen give scholarships to seniors that are going into a major in Agricultural, Nutritional or Health related fields.

You might ask if you are eligible. If you live in Carson, Collingsworth, Gray, Hemphill, Hutchinson, Lipscomb, Ochilitree, Roberts or Wheeler counties and only seniors in these counties are eligible.

their cattle book. Crazy Critter Cluster Craft Day4-H club will be hosting the Crazy Critter Cluster Craft Day on March 3, in the Donley County Exten-

sion Building, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. The cost is $20 per chid for kids of ages 9-18. Clover kids (5-8) are welcome with their parents. Activities will inlude crafts, sewing, and community service projects. Supplies to required to bring are 1 sock, 1 t-shirt (t-shirt will be made into a bag), and buttons. Snacks and drinks will be provided. Please contact your Texas AgriLife Extension Office to register by Mon-day, February 27. All youth and adult leaders and welcome to attend. Looking for old Shamrock Route 66 photos The 66th St. Patrick’s Celebration is right around the corner. Each year here at County Star-News, we

strive to put out the biggest and best paper of the year for this event. This year working off the 66, we are searching for old photos and stories of Route 66. If you have any old Shamrock Route 66 photos you would be willing to share, please bring them by

of Shamrock, Texas, was ar-rested on a charge of driving while intoxicated. Torres was released January 27, 2012, af-ter posting a $1,000 bond.

1/28 Julio Cesar Salas, 27 of Wheeler, Texas, was arrested on a charge of a Grand Jury indictment in Gray County. Salas was released January 28, 2012, after posting a $10,000 bond.

2/7 Harish Patel, 59 of Sham-rock, Texas, was arrested on a charge of misappropriation of funds in Ochiltree County. Pa-tel was released on February 7, 2012, after a posting a $15,000 bond.

2/7 Robbie Jean Raggo, 46 of Orange, Texas, was arrested on a charge of theft by check and a Jasper County warrant. Raggo was released February 9, 2012, after posting a $1,000 bond.

2/7 Cody Russell Hill, 23 of Fritch, Texas, was arrested on charges of failure to appear, theft by check, and a Brown County Warrant. Hill was re-leased February 8, 2012, after posting a $1,500 bond.

2/9 Anthony Michael Rati-car, 77 of Shamrock, Texas, was arrested on a charge of deadly conduct by discharging of a firearm. Raticar was re-leased February 11, 2012, after posting a $250,000 bond.

2/12 Santiago Solis-Gonza-lez, 28 of Wheeler, Texas, was arrested on a charge of driving while intoxicated. Gonzalez was released after posting a $2,000 bond.

2/13 Matthew James Sharp, 30 of Kentucky, was arrest-ed on a charge of possession of marijuana, greater than five pounds, but less than 50 pounds, and prohibited weap-on. Sharp is currently being held at the Wheeler County Jail.

2/13 George Sherman Camp-bell, 36 of Kentucky, was ar-rested on a charge of posses-sion of marijuana, greater than

five pounds, but less than 50 pounds. Campbell is current-ly being held at the Wheeler County Jail.

2/13 Jason Alan Brewer, 34 of Shamrock, Texas, was ar-rested on a charge of bond forfeiture, possession of mari-juana, failure to appear, and driving while license invalid with two prior convictions. Brewer is currently being held at the Wheeler County Jail.

2/14 Travis Aaron Parkin, 30 of Shamrock, Texas, was ar-rested on a charge of engaging in organized criminal activity and a Gray County warrant. Parkin was released February 15, 2012, to Gray County au-thorities.
