All entries are due to the Wheeler County Extension Office by Friday, March 2, 2012. The 4-H State contest rules and categories will apply. Pictures must be printed to 8x10 and mounted to either matte board or foam board. A label with the following information must be attached to the pictures: Name, Age, and Category. The first place winner in the senior age division will advance to the State contest. First place entries in the junior and intermediate age division will advance to the District contest. Clover Kid 4-H members are encouraged to enter photographs, however, are not eligible for competition in the contest. All pictures will be on display in the Wheeler Ag and Family Life Center after the competition. Con- test rules may be picked up from the Extension office or call (806) 826-5243 for more information. Livestock brand renewal deadline All cattle raisers must renew their livestock brands before March 1, 2012. The six month grace period will be over, and un-renewed brands will be open to the public. Top O’ Texas CattleWomen scholarships available Top O ‘ Texas CattleWomen are announcing that scholarship applications are available at their high school counselors office now. Each year Top O’ Texas CattleWomen give scholarships to seniors that are going into a major in Agricultural, Nutritional or Health related fields. You might ask if you are eligible. Crazy Critter Cluster Craft Day 4-H club will be hosting the Crazy Critter Cluster Craft Day on March 3, in the Donley County Exten- sion Building, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. The cost is $20 per chid for kids of ages 9-18. Clover kids (5-8) are welcome with their parents. Activities will inlude crafts, sewing, and community service projects. Supplies to required to bring are 1 sock, 1 t-shirt (t-shirt will be made into a bag), and buttons. Snacks and drinks will be provided. Each year here at County Star-News, we strive to put out the biggest and best paper of the year for this event. This year working off the 66, we are searching for old photos and stories of Route 66.
