Counting Cards Busy Bag Materials:
zip-top gallon-size bag
color printer
white cardstock paper
scissors
laminator or clear contact paper
(optional)
clear packaging tape
small manipulative to mark the correct number: clothes pins, mini clothes pins,
magnets (& cookie sheet), dry erase marker or dry erase crayon.
Instructions:
1. Print counting cards on white cardstock and cut the pages in thirds on the solid
lines. Laminate the cards for more durability and place them in the zip-top bag.
2. Place the items for marking the correct number in the bag as well.
3. Print the Busy Bag label on regular weight printer paper. Cut it out on the solid
lines and fill in the directions and materials for your marking device of choice.
Use clear packaging tape to cover and secure the label to the front of the
zip-top bag.

Counting Cards Busy Bag Note to Adults: There are several ways to complete this activity. Your child can use clothes
pins or mini clothes pins to clip to the correct number. They can also place the cards on a
cookie sheet and place magnets on top of the correct number. Another option is to use
dry-erase markers or dry-erase crayons to circle the correct numbers. We’ve found that
clothes pin and magnets work well without leaving any marks on the cards. Once you’ve
decided how you’d like your child to mark the correct number, please fill in the blanks on
the directions and materials section of the busy bag label.
1. Give your child the counting cards and your choice of marking device.
2. Have them pick one card at a time, count the objects and mark the
correct number.
