CounterPath Softphone Disable SIP Keep Alive

Important Configuration Setting – Disable SIP Keep Alive: Zayo Enterprise Networks’ deploys safeguards against Denial-of-Service network intrusions as part of overall network security.
The CounterPath softphone, by default, has a setting called SIP Keep Alive that must be disabled to avoid a false denial-of-service to be detected and interrupting your company’s communications. Follow the below steps to disable the SIP Keep Alive setting.
Open SIP Account Settings Dialog Box: • Start the soft phone application. • Right-click anywhere on the soft phone and select the SIP Account Settings menu option, then click the Properties button.
Advanced Settings: • Click on the Advanced tab. • Uncheck the box Send SIP keep-alives.
Save Configuration: • After unchecking the box for Send SIP keep-alives, press the OK button, then press the Close button. • The soft phone will then register with the Zayo Enterprise Services network and display Ready in the top right corner.

Open SIP Account Settings Dialog Box: • Start the soft phone application. • Select File / Account Settings. • Click the Edit button to open the Account settings.
Advanced Settings: • Click on the Advanced tab. • Uncheck the box Send SIP keep-alives.
Save Configuration: • After unchecking the box for Send SIP keep-alives,, press the OK button, then press the OK button again to close the Account Settings box..
• The soft phone will then register with the Zayo Enterprise Services network and display “Enter name or number.”
