Countable Nouns

• Nouns you can count• You can use a / an in front of them• E.g. a banana ; an apple• Nouns that have a plural form• E.g. Three pancakes

Non Countable Nouns

• Nouns you can’t count• Normally, you can’t use a /an in front of

them• E.g. Milk is delicious.• Nouns that normally don’t have a plural

form• E.g. I want more milk.

How Much & How Many ?

• Use How Many to ask about Countable nouns

• Use How Much to ask about Non Countable nouns

EXAMPLES:

Some & Any

• Affirmative:– Use Some for affirmative sentences– I want some milk.– We have some apples.– My mom cooked some rice for dinner.– There is some juice in the fridge.

• Negative and Interrogative• Use Any for negative and interrogative

sentences.- We don’t have any ice- cream.- There isn’t any coffee in the cup.- There aren’t any more sandwiches.- Is there any milk in the fridge?- Are there any oranges?
