This fun based Charity Motoring event , through the Endeavour Foundation raises over Three Hundred Thousand Dollars as a direct result of the Great Endeavour, and the money raised goes towards helping and supporting people with a disability throughout our communities. Have you
completed the
Retune?
The final step in Australia’s
move to digital-only TV saw
some TV channels changing
frequencies in Euston on 27
August and Balranald on
24 September.
If you are missing a channel,
you will need to retune your
digital TV, set-top box or
digital TV recorder to find the
channels that have moved –
for most systems press the
“menu” button on your
remote and follow the prompts to retune. If you
have difficulty retuning you
shou ld re fer to the
manufacturer’s handbook, ask
a friend or family for help or
call the Digital Ready
Information Line 1800 20 10
13.
If you find channels haven’t
changed, you may be receiving
a signal from a different TV
transmitter. In some cases,
certain digital equipment will
automatically retune itself.
This means you won’t need to
do anything.

Following the announcement that Atlas-Crystal have now been given permission to progress with the mining site, I, on behalf of Council, would like to welcome them into our Shire and wish them every success with their business. The commitment of both Atlas-Crystal and Iluka mining projects opens fantastic opportunities for our Shire. The Euston Club Resort Mildura Cup Day held on August 24th 2014 was an extremely well organised event and was a fantastic day. Congratulations to all involved. All the best to Balranald under 14s Junior Foot-ball team who are playing in the Grand Final on Saturday. Congratulations for making it to the finals, we are proud of you all. Congratulations also to John Brougham on his well deserved Central Murray League Identity of the Year Award.

Don’t be surprised to bump into enthusiastic volunteers handing out programs of the upcoming 5 Rivers Outback Festival when you’re out and about in the coming weeks. A team of dedicated members of the Festival Committee and Balranald Inc. will be setting up a number of Pop-Up stands in some of the surrounding regional towns, such as Hay, Swan Hill, Mildura and Bendigo handing out festival programs and posters, as well as selling tickets and merchandise.
The Pop-Up stands are part of the Festival Committee’s dedication to distribute activities of the Festival and also include postal drops, distribution to Visitor Information Centres, and advertising on regional radio & TV. The Festival has a fabulous line up of activities and entertainment planned, including Australian music legends Joe Camilleri & The Black Sorrows performing LIVE at the Riverbank Bash at the Balranald Caravan Park Saturday October 11th.
Other activities include the Local Retailers Fair and live broadcast, LV Bodinnar’s 90th Birthday celebrations, art exhibition, wool fashion parade, live music at The Homebush Pub, shearing and wood cutting demonstrations, Outback Geo Adventures’ tours, open Mic, Sunday market, and much, much more. Keep an eye out for your festival program with full details of all activities! For more information, bookings and registrations, visit the Festival’s website at www.5riversoutbackfestival.com.au

Balranald Police Update
If you need to contact Balranald Police the only
numbers to be used are: 000 – for emergencies
03 5020 1404 – Balranald Police Station If the Police station is unattended the phone will divert to an operator, please leave your details and Police will attend or contact you as soon as possible. Please DO NOT call a mobile phone number for Police in the Balranald/Euston sector as it is a personal phone number, not a Police phone and should not be used for requesting Police assistance. If you require Police to attend, they need the job logged via their radio operators either through phoning the Police station or 000. Calls to 000 are recorded. The information supplied to the operator will be recorded accurately and will assist the Police at the time. The recording may also be required at a later time. Sgt Tucker is often approached and told of things that happened “yesterday”, “the other day” or “last week”. This information is of little value to the Police - if you see or hear something suspicious please phone 000 or the Balranald Police Station immediately so that they can attend and investigate at the time it’s happening. Alternatively, you can call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000. Sgt Tucker would like to remind residents that leaving motor vehicles unlocked and unattended is an offence, with a fine of $104.
