The outside of a house. There is a Halloween dummy (along withvarious other Halloween decorations) on the front porch. A car

pulls up. KYLE and WENDY step out, dressed in cowboy/girl

costumes. KYLE has a small video camera in his hand and is

filming WENDY.

WENDY

Knock it off, Kyle! You havent taken that video camera off of me

since we left my house.

KYLE

Thats because you look so adorable.

WENDY playfully rolls her eyes at KYLE and takes his hand as

they walk to the door. KYLE knocks on the door. As they wait for

someone to answer, WENDY comments on the dummy to Kyle.

WENDYThat dummy gives me the creeps. I feel like I can see it breathing.

KYLE

Thats because youre a big baby, Wendy. Its so fake looking

anyway.

KYLE leans in close to the dummy to examine it. He screams and

acts as though the dummy is grabbing him. WENDY jumps at first,

but then realizing KYLE is joking, she swats at him.

WENDY

NOT funny.

ALLISON opens the door in a panic, thinking something is wrong.

ALLISON

Is everything okay, guys?

WENDY

Yes. Kyle was just being a jerk.

WENDY gives KYLE a punch in the arm. ALLISON relaxes and

welcomes KYLE and WENDY inside.

ALLISON

Come on in. Aw. You guys look so cute!

WENDY

Thanks. I put them together myself!

KYLE

Yes. With absolutely no help (or say) from me.

WENDY tugs on KYLEs arm playfully and they smile at each

other.

KYLE

Are we the first to arrive?

ALLISON

Yup. Theres punch and snacks on the table in the corner. Ill be

right back. Im gonna put some music on now that there are people

here.

KYLE and WENDY make their way to the snack table. KYLE grabsa rather ridiculously large handful of potato chips and shoves

them in his mouth. WENDY gives him a look.

KYLE

(With his mouth full)

What?

WENDY rolls her eyes at KYLE. There is a knock at the door.

WENDY

I got it, Allison!

WENDY goes to answer the door. MAX (dressed as a gangster) is

standing with a fake machine gun pointed at WENDY.

MAX(Said with a thick gangster accent)

Put em up.

WENDY puts her arms up, pretending with MAX.

WENDY

Haha. Hey, Max!

WENDY opens the door and lets MAX in. The music begins toplay.

MAX

(Said with a thick gangster accent)

Well, hello, cowgirl Wendy! And where is the lovely host?

Just then ALLISON appears at the top of the stairs. MAX takes off

his hat.

MAX (Cont.)(Said with a thick gangster accent)

Va va voom! Look at you!

ALLISON

You like it?

ALLISON walks down the stairs to join KYLE, MAX, and WENDY.

MAX


Like it? Baby, I love it!

ALLISON

Haha. Are you going to be talking with that ridiculous accent all

night?

MAX


That depends. Do you like it?

ALLISON

No.

ALLISON and MAX smile at each other as the group makes their

way into the open area of the living room.

WENDY

The house looks great, Allison.

ALLISON

Thanks. I love decorating for Halloween. It's my favorite holiday.

Did you see the black light room?

WENDY

No.

ALLISON

Come on. Check it out.

ALLISON and WENDY go to the black light room. KYLE and MAX

stay put.

MAXYou already saw it too?

KYLE

Nah. I just don't want Wendy to see that I already spilled some

soda on my costume.

KYLE and MAX laugh. Clip to ALLISON and WENDY in the black

light room.

WENDY

I love this! So spooky...haha.

Clip to outside. Another car pulls up. JESSICA steps out dressed

as a fairy. She is walking toward the front door as ANDREW

walks up the sidewalk. JESSICA spots him, but continues to walk,

rolling he eyes as she does. ANDREW sees her and calls out to

her.

ANDREW

Hey! Jessica!

Before turning around to greet ANDREW, JESSICA rolls her eyes

one more time. Then she plays nice.

JESSICA

Andrew. Hey.

ANDREW

Hey. I thought you were going to wear the poodle skirt outfit to

match me.

JESSICA

Look, I really dont want to get into this now.

JESSICA turns and walks toward the door. ANDREW follows.

ANDREW

We had a fight. Thats normal.

JESSICA

We fought because I saw you with someone else!

ANDREWJessica, I'm sorry. I didn't want you to find out that way.

JESSICA

Dont worry about it. Lets just get through tonight and

ALLISON opens the door and greets ANDREW and JESSICA.

They stop talking and smile at ALLISON.

ALLISON(Interrupting)

Andrew! Jessica! Glad you could make it. You're the last to arrive.

Come on in.

ANDREW and JESSICA step inside. ALLISON looks around

outside before closing the door and locking it.

ALLISON (Cont.)

Now that everyone's here, I thought we could start off the night

with a game of 1 to 10!

ALL but JESSICA

Sound great, sure, okay...etc.

JESSICA

Whats 1 to 10?

MAXOh, its really fun.

WENDY

And really easy.

ALLISON

Youll love it! Come on. Lets play in here!

ALLISON leads the way to the black light room. The other guests

follow. The guests sit down on the couch, chair, and floor.

ALLISON begins to explain the game.

ALLISON (Cont.)

Okay, so we go around the circle and count from 1 to 10 and then

back through over and over. But on different numbers, you have to

remember to do different things.

KYLE

Yeah, like for example, on 4 you have to bark instead of saying

4. If you mess up, then the person to your right gets to slap your

leg.

ANDREW

And the person to your left gets to make up a new rule for a

number or take one away.

ALLISONIts really easy once you get the hang of it. Okay, to start off, lets

do a bark on 4 and

MAX

(Interrupting)

A pelvic thrust on 9.

ALL but MAXNo, ew, whatetc.

MAX

Oh, come on

ALLISON

No. Lets do a clap on 9.

ALL but MAX

Okay, alright, lets goetc.

MAX groans. They begin to play the game. The person who has

MAX on their left messes up and he makes a pelvic thrust on

number 10 just to spite everyone. They groan, but allow the rule.

As the play, thunder can be heard in the background. The storm

continues to grow as they play. All the while, KYLE is seen taking

video here and there of their game.

Suddenly, the lights go out. Nothing can be seen, only heard.

Everyone reacts differently. MAX lets out a scream (he has been

struck on the head) and falls to the floor. The lights flicker and

then remain on. ALLISON screams when she sees MAX on the

floor, blood on his head, and a bloody candlestick lying beside his

body.

Once ALLISON screams, the others look and react to his

seemingly lifeless body. ALLISON goes to his side and takes hispulse.

ALLISON

Hes dead!

Bum bum bumThe guests all react to the news. Suddenly,

WENDY realizes something.

WENDY

Wait a minute. Kyle, werent you filming when the lights went

out?

KYLE

Yeah. Actually its still on.

ALLISON looks up from the floor.

ALLISON

Let me see it!

KYLE

Wait a second.

KYLE rummages through his pockets and pulls out a cable.

KYLE (Cont.)

I can hook it up to the TV so we can see better.

KYLE moves over to the TV and searches for a connection.

KYLE (Cont.)

Can someone turn the real lights on? I cant see a thing back here.

One of the guests flicks the light switch. As they do, ALLISON

cries over MAXs head.

KYLE (Cont.)

There we go.

KYLE rewinds the tape to just before the lights went out. ALL are

watching intently. Unfortunately, once the lights are off, nothing

can be seen in the dark.

ALLISON

(Hysterical)

Turn it off!

KYLE quickly turns off the TV and unhooks the camera.

ALLISON (Cont.)

Now get out! All of you!

ALL leave the room quickly to give ALLISON a moment. Clip to

the group (minus ALLISON and MAX) standing around in the

living room.

ANDREW

You know what this means dont you?

WENDYWhat?

ANDREW

This is going to go on our permanent record. Were not going to be

able to apply for a job at McDonalds without this coming up.

JESSICA

Our friend is dead and youre worried about your job options!?!

ANDREWIm just saying that

WENDY

(Interrupting)

Jessicas right. Youre ridiculous, Andrew!

KYLE

Honey, you really shouldnt

WENDY

Dont honey me! You could be the killer! Any one of you could!

ALLISON returns from the black light room and the room falls

silent. She passes through the group and heads towards the

kitchen.

JESSICA

Allison, where are you going?

ALLISON

Where do you think? Im calling the cops.

The group looks at each other. ANDREW has the expression of I

told you so. The group follows ALLISON into the kitchen. She

picks up the phone. There is no dial tone.

ALLISON

Dead.

WENDY

Um. Why dont I just use my cell phone?

WENDY holds up her cell phone.

ALLISONGood luck with that. I never get service here.

WENDY

I always get service. Just give me a second.

WENDY leaves the kitchen holding her phone up, attempting to get

bars. KYLE picks up his video camera from his neck and follows

WENDY.

ALLISON calls after KYLE.

ALLISON

Kyle! Could you not?

KYLE

Sorry, Allison. This is too good not to tape. Can you imagine howmuch I could sell this for?

ALLISON rolls her eyes as KYLE continues to follow WENDY.

ALLISON picks up the phone and hangs it up a few times, but

realizing that its completely dead, she hangs up and gives up.

ANDREW

Allis

ALLISON

(Interrupting)

What?

ANDREW

(Timid)

Is there anyone else in the house?

ALLISON

What?

ANDREW

Is there anyone

ALLISON

(Interrupting)

I heard you. I just dont understand why youre asking.

ANDREW

Well, as you know, your boyfriend was just murdered and I think

its pretty clear that it was someone in that room.

ALLISON

No. Theres no one else.

ANDREWDid anyone have a grudge against Max?

ALLISON

Not that I know

The front door opening is heard in the background.

JESSICA

Was that the front door?

ALLISON

Yes.

ALLISON, ANDREW and JESSICA all look at each other with a

sudden revelation.

ANDREW

Kyle!

ALLISON and JESSICA

Wendy!

The group rushes to the front door. When they are almost there,

two gunshots are heard. They move even faster. Sadly, they arent

in time.

When they open the front door, they see KYLE and WENDY layingon the porch with blood spilling from their bodies. They are

obviously dead.

A womans scream is heard. The camera pans and it is ANDREW

who is screaming and clutching JESSICAs shoulder. ALLISON

and JESSICA look at him with What the heck? expressions.

ANDREW melts out of his hold on JESSICA and laughs nervously.

ANDREW

Sorry. I

JESSICA

Allison, we cant leave these bodies on the porch. Andrew, help us

lift them onto the couch in the other room.

ALLISON

Jessica, I dont know about this.

JESSICA

Its not a crime to move their bodies. We wouldnt want a

neighborhood kid to walk by and see it, would we?

ALLISON

I suppose not.

JESSICA

Right.

ANDREW

Okay, Kyle first.

The three remaining guests lift KYLEs body and take him into the

black light room. They set his body down on the couch, which is

covered with a white sheet. The do the same with WENDYs body,

laying her beside KYLE.

ANDREW

You know we should probably move Max over here too. Jessica

and I can do it if youre

ALLISON

(Interrupting)

No, its alright. Ill help.

The three remaining guests lift MAXs body onto the couch with

KYLE and WENDY. ALLISON exits the room with JESSICA

shortly behind her. ANDREW goes to shuts off the light and sees a

blinking light on the pile of bodies. He reaches for it. Its KYLEs

video camera. ANDREW turns the lights back on as he examines

the camera. He sees that it is still on.

ANDREWAllison! Jessica! Come here, quick!

Clip to ALLISON and JESSICA in the other room, JESSICA is

comforting ALLISON. They hear ANDREW and run into the black

light room. When they get there, ANDREW already has the video

camera hooked up to the TV and is rewinding the video.

ALLISON

What is it?

ANDREW

Kyles camera was still on. Maybe this time well be able to see

the killer!

ALLISON and JESSICA

Oh my gosh.

ALLISON and JESSICA go to sit on the couch, but seeing the deadbodies, they squat on the floor instead. ANDREW cues up the

video and lets it play from where KYLE was following WENDY

around the house. The three watch in silence and sadness.

When it gets to the part where KYLE and WENDY go outside, the

three remaining guests all watch very intently.

*VIDEO CLIP*

The video camera follows WENDY outside.

KYLE (voice only)

And heres Wendy. Still attempting to get a signal.

WENDY

(Putting her hand in front of the camera)

Stop it, Kyle.

WENDY holds up her phone.

WENDY (Cont.)

I think I got it! And you didnt think Id

A single gunshot is heard and the video camera falls to the

ground, WENDY can be seen.

WENDY (Cont.)Oh my gosh! Kyle!

WENDY looks to the side.

WENDY (Cont.)

No! It cant be

A second gunshot is heard and WENDY falls to the ground,knocking the camera. In the brief knocking of the camera, it pans

past where the dummy was sitting and finally ends on the ground.

A few moments later, ANDREWs scream is heard. ANDREW

stops the tape.

*END VIDEO CLIP*

ANDREW(Disheartened)

Nothing.

JESSICA

No, wait. Go back to where Wendy hit the camera. I couldve

sworn I saw something.

ALLISON

Jess, theres nothing there.

JESSICA

It cant hurt to take a second look.

ANDREW rewinds the video to where WENDY says No. It cant

be. He lets it play. When the camera is hit by WENDY falling,

JESSICA tells him to pause it.

JESSICA

(Pointing)There!

ANDREW pauses the tape. The video camera is aimed at the chair

where the dummy was. The dummy is missing.

ANDREW

Did I miss it? Theres nothing there.

JESSICA

Exactly. The dummy. Its missing.

ALLISON

The dummy? Jessica, I know tonights been traumatic for all of us,

but the dummy is well just that. A dummy!

JESSICAThen where is it?

JESSICA gets up and points at the screen. She then exits the room

and goes to the front door. ALLISON and ANDREW follow her.

When they reach the porch, the dummy is sitting in the chair, as

still as ever. JESSICA goes over to it and pulls off its mask.

Newspaper falls from it. JESSICA drops it on the ground and sits

in the porch chair next to the dummy.

JESSICA

I know it sounded crazy, but I just thought

JESSICA trails off. ANDREW goes over to her and rests his hand

on her shoulder.

ANDREW

I know. Its okay.

JESSICA places her hand on ANDREWs. The group is silent for a

moment. Just then, the house phone rings from inside.

ANDREW

Is that your house phone?

ALLISON

(Shocked)It is!

ALLISON runs inside, followed by ANDREW and JESSICA. They

rush to the kitchen. ALLISON picks up the phone.

ALLISON

Hello?

DUMMY (voice only)

Im watching youvery closely. Hahaha

The phone falls silent. ALLISON has a look of shock on her face.

She hangs the phone up and picks it up again. No dial tone. She

does this a couple of times, very dramatically.

JESSICA

Who was it?

ALLISON

I dont know, but theres still no dial tone. All they said was Im

watching you very closely. And then they laughed. But the

phones are dead so I dont know how

ALLISON cuts herself off and begins to cry.

ANDREW

Jessica, where are your keys?

JESSICA

On the snack table. Why?

ANDREW

I dont know about you, but I dont want to be the next one to drop

dead. We need to leave. Now.

ANDREW leaves the kitchen, followed by ALLISON and JESSICA.

ANDREW grabs a set of keys off of the snack table as he passes it.

ALLISON

Andrew! Jessica! Stop!

ANDREW and JESSICA turn around.

ANDREW

What?

ALLISON

Dont you see that shadow? Someone is at the front

Just then, the doorbell rings.

ALLISON (Cont.)door.

JESSICA

Oh my gosh! Do you think its the killer?

Why would the killer ring the doorbell?

JESSICA

I dont know!

ALLISON

I have a peephole. Andrew?

ALLISON gestures towards the door.

ANDREW

Sure. Ill check.

ANDREW looks through the peephole very cautiously. The camera

shot looks through the peephole. OFFICER DUNCAN is

standing there. OFFICER DUNCAN knocks on the door again.

OFFICER DUNCAN

Excuse me! Is anyone home?

ANDREW turns back to tell the girls.

ANDREW

(Whispering)

Its the police! What should I do?

JESSICA

What should you do? You should answer!

JESSICA rushes to the front door and opens it. ALLISON follows

and ANDREW steps out of the way.

OFFICER DUNCAN

(Tipping his hat)

Good evening, young lady. We received a strange phone call at the

station about this house. They said they were watching you and

JESSICA opens the glass door and pulls OFFICER DUNCAN

inside.

JESSICA

(Interrupting)

Its about time you got here!

OFFICER DUNCAN

You were the one who called?

JESSICA

Um. No. But I think I know why someone did. Officer, there have

been several murders here tonight.

OFFICER DUNCAN

Murders?

ANDREWWhat she means to say, officer, is that there have been several

accidents here

OFFICER DUNCAN

Accidents?

ALLISON

Officer, please let us explain what happened to our friends before

you assume the worst of us.

OFFICER DUNCAN

Your friends?

ALLISON

Yes. You see. Im throwing a couples costume party here tonight.

OFFICER DUNCAN

Yes. That I can see. I saw the decorations outside. The cobwebs

ALLISON

Yes.

OFFICER DUNCAN

ALLISON

(After a moment of hesitation)

Yes.

ANDREW

Please, Officer

OFFICER DUNCAN

Duncan.

ANDREW

Officer Duncan. Please have a seat while we explain. Would you

care for a drink?

OFFICER DUNCAN

Sure. But Im still not sure what youre explaining.

ANDREW goes over to the snack table and pours OFFICER

DUNCAN a glass of punch (Lemon Berry Blast, baby!). OFFICER

DUNCAN sits down on the couch and takes out a notepad.

ALLISON sits beside him, with some space, and JESSICA sits in a

chair.

ALLISON

As I was saying, Im hosting a couples costume

JESSICA

(Interrupting)

Allison, please. He only needs the important details.

ALLISONRight. Sorry.

ANDREW returns with OFFICER DUNCANs drink and hands it

to him. He nods in appreciation. ANDREW stands as the girls tell

OFFICER DUNCAN about the events of the night.

ALLISON (Cont.)

A short while ago, the power went out.

OFFICER DUNCAN

Because of the storm of course.

ALLISON

Right. Well, we only lost power for a few seconds, but in those few

seconds, my boyfriend, Max was

OFFICER DUNCANMax. Whats his last name?

ALLISON

(Through teary eyes)

Fredricks.

Okay, go on. You were saying when the power went out that your

friend Max

ALLISON

(Trying to talk through the tears)

JESSICA puts her hand on ALLISONs and answers for her.

JESSICA

He was murdered, officer.

OFFICER DUNCAN

Are you sure, maam?

JESSICA

Yes. Unless he hit himself over the head with a candlestick.

OFFICER DUNCANA candlestick?

ANDREW

Yes.

OFFICER DUNCAN

And is the candlestick still in the house?

ALLISON(A bit more composed)

Yes.

OFFICER DUNCAN

I see. You guys havent touched it, have you?

The three remaining guests look at each other.

ANDREW

I dont believe so, Officer Duncan.

OFFICER DUNCAN

Thank you. And your name?

ANDREW

Andrew. Andrew Schwartz.

OFFICER DUNCANAndrew, could you grab me a freezer bag big enough to hold the

candlestick please?

ANDREW

Sure.

ANDREW goes to the kitchen to retrieve a freezer bag for

OFFICER DUNCAN. OFFICER DUNCAN puts away his notepad

and takes out rubber gloves and starts to put them on. He stands

as hes doing so.

OFFICER DUNCAN

All of you are going to need to come down to the station with me

once I retrieve the murder weapon, okay?

ANDREW returns with the freezer bag and hands it to OFFICER

DUNCAN.

OFFICER DUNCAN

Now, where was it left?

JESSICA points to the black light room and OFFICER DUNCAN

starts walking towards it.

ANDREW

Yes, thats where it was left, but sir, theres more to

OFFICER DUNCAN

(Interrupting)

I was just telling your friends here that youll all need to come

down to the station after I retrieve the weapon.

ANDREW

Okay, thats fine, but

OFFICER DUNCAN

Anything else you have to add, you can do so there.

ANDREW

I really dont think we should wait until

Just before OFFICER DUNCAN reaches the black light room,

there is a noise heard upstairs. OFFICER DUNCAN pulls his gun

out and instructs the three remaining guests to stand back.

OFFICER DUNCAN

Stand back! Is there someone else in the house?

ALLISON

No, sir.

OFFICER DUNCANOkay, the three of you step in that room while I check it out.

JESSICA

But, officer

OFFICER DUNCAN

(Interrupting)

Now!

ALLISON, ANDREW and JESSICA step into the black light room.They look away from the dead bodies. Clip to OFFICER

DUNCAN walking up the stairs cautiously with his gun in his

hand, ready to shoot. He reaches the top of the staircase and turns

right. He is no longer seen. Clip back to the black light room.

JESSICA

(To ANDREW)

I cant believe you just let that man go off in the house alonewithout knowing all the details. He thinks one person mysteriously

died when really three have been killed!

ANDREW

You were keeping pretty quiet yourself, missy.

JESSICA

Thats because I thought youd be man enough to handle ityourself.

ANDREW

I am man enough. As a matter of a fact, Im going to join Officer

Duncan now.

ANDREW steps out of the room. JESSICA follows after him, trying

to stop him. ALLISON follows to try and stop the both of them

from leaving the room.

JESSICA

Stop this right now, Andrew!

ANDREW

You cant boss me around anymore, Jessica. Remember? We

broke up!

ALLISONYou guys, we should really do what the officer told us. Stay put.

Come on

ANDREW is about halfway up the stairs when OFFICER

DUNCANs body is thrown through the opening in the loft room

upstairs. JESSICA screams and ANDREW runs back down the

stairs.

They rush over to OFFICER DUNCAN on the floor and see a knife

sticking out of his back. They look up to the loft room and see a

shadow, but cant tell who (or what) the shadow is from.

ANDREW

And that would be my cue to leave.

JESSICARight behind you!

ANDREW and JESSICA rush towards the front door, unaware that

ALLISON isnt following them. ANDREW pulls open the front

door. MAX is standing there, with a gun in hand (real this time),

and a mischievous look on his face. Bum, bum, bum

JESSICA

Max?

ANDREW pulls JESSICA away from the door and turns around to

exit out the slider door. ALLISON is standing with a gun pointed

at them.

Allison? What are you...

ALLISON

(Interrupting)Sorry, good friends, but your time seems to have run out.

MAX, now inside, has ANDREW and JESSICA cornered.

JESSICA

You mean this whole time?

ANDREWThe two of you?

MAX

Yes, thats right.

JESSICA

But how?

ANDREW

And why?

MAX

The why is easy for fun. Merely kicks and giggles.

MAX laughs an evil laugh.

JESSICAThe how is a bit more complicated.

MAX

Yes. Just a bit. Please, have a seat while we explain.

ALLISON and MAX motion for ANDREW and JESSICA to take a

seat on the couch while they tell their tale.

MAX (Cont.)

Deciding that I should be the first to die was my Maryswonderful idea. It would rule out any chance that you would

suspect either of us.

ALLISON

I was worried when Wendy realized Kyle was videotaping during

the black out, but thankfully, no one saw a thing.

MAXWe didnt plan the order in which we killed, we just saw

opportunities and took them. Much like now.

ALLISON

Very much like now.

MAX

So, goodbye, Andrew and

ANDREW

(Interrupting)

Wait! You cant be serious! Please let us

Before letting ANDREW finish, MAX shoots him twice in the chest

and laughs. JESSICA screams and starts to cry.

MAX(To ALLISON)

He was really annoying me, you know?

ALLISON

Annoying you? Ugh. And now, Jessica.

JESSICA

Please. Dont.

ALLISON

(Mocking)

Please. Dont. Haha. Goodbye.

ALLISON shoots JESSICA twice in the chest. ALLISON tosses her

gun onto JESSICA and MAX follows suit.

MAX brushes off his hands and holds out one for ALLISON.

MAX

Shall we?

ALLISON

Certainly! Just let me grab my things.

ALLISON collects her boa, cigarette holder, purseetc.

MAX

Brilliant job tonight.

ALLISON and MAX are looking at each other. They dont notice it

at first, but it is visible to the camera, the dummy is standing at the

door with a bloody knife in his hand.
