COSTUME AND PROP RESEARCH

OUTFIT 1

These are Chelsea boots. I feel that from researching my chosen genres general style, these would finish off the outfit as they give off a casual sense of style and attitude which fits well with my genre of indie rock. They also quite rock and roll, having a bold effect which will stand out.

This is a small daisy print playsauit. By researching my chosen genre, I have gathered that by my model wearing this, it would represent my genre well. The smaller the print of the daisy/flower pattern, the better as seen in the indie rock band ‘haim’.

By researching my chosen genre, I have found that a lot of artists/bands tend to wear a bold lipstick such as reds/deep purples, this adds additional effect to the look and would also look great with this outfit because it would stand out from the dark colours and would also make the face stand out.

These round glasses would add effect to the over all look of my model as it adds a indie rock effect to it. These glasses would look good resting on the top of my models head with their hair in a messy bun to add a festival/casual look that indie rock bands/artists tend to inherit.

OUTFIT 2This fluffy jumper adds texture to this look. It would be useful as its easy to use and you can recognise a pose/stance better as it would fold over. It would look quite baggy and would add a casual look to the outfit. Its low neck suggests a accessory such as a necklace/ locket with it or perhaps a shirt underneath so you can only see the collars. This colour would look good with a dark or a really vibrant lipstick.

This swing skirt would add a casual and indie look to this outfit. The polka dots are recognisable to its genre as seen on many indie rock artists/bands. This skirt would look better without tights as seen throughout my research.

These red cross-over sandals create a relaxed look. They are bright and add vibrance from this black and white colour scheme. These colours would tie themselves in to my ideas for the magazines colour scheme as I want to keep them simple, however, create an effective look.

This locket would look great over the top of the jumper. It would create an indie vibe to the look as the other items have few accessory. I have also seen a lot of members from indie bands wear these and I think they look good on.

This white shirt would sit under the black jumper so you would just see the collars, I could have left the jumper as it is, however It would look quite bear and unfinished. If I left the shirt out I would include the locket as it would create a fuller effect and create a indie rock casual look.

OUTFIT 3This shirt would look good on my model with its first two buttons undone to add a more casual look as opposed to a formal work look. This would also look good tucked into dark denim frayed shorts to create a more indie look. This shirt would look good with the models hair up as it would look more casual.

These glasses on my model would add a sharp effect to the look of my magazine which would align itself with my masthead ideas. The dark line on the glasses would tie in with the dark shorts. These would look good on the top of my models head or on the face, creating a bold effect.

This deep purple lipstick would look good with the sharp glasses used in this look. I would make sure that when I do the lipstick, that I make the points at the top of the lip sharp to add to the overall effect of the magazine. From research I have found that this is one of the popular colours used on indie rock bands/artists.

These black denim shorts add to the almost grunge/messy look I am trying to create. The frays at the bottom demonstrate that of a typical indie rock style of fashion which is recognised in most indie rock artists/bands. These would look great with the blue shirt or a grey shirt tucked into them.

These light grey supergas would add the most effect to the look because they set the casual tone of the outfit. These also look good on the foot as they are shaped well. I like the way they create a messy yet sharp indie rock look. These would look good with an anklet as seen in indie rock festival looks.

OUTFIT 4This black lipstick is not usually seen on indie rock artists/bands however I think that this would fit in this genre well as dark colour lips are key to its look. I think it would tie the outfit together as black is involved within the blazer and in the all black leather trousers.

These deep purple tassel loafers add a plat formed vibe to this look. They have a shine to them which is shown in the lighting of the picture which must look good in front of the camera. These add colour to the outfit and would look great on my model. These would look good next to the leather trousers and would look bigger on the model which is what I have noticed through research of indie rock fashion.

These are black leather trousers. I like these better than the leather leggings because they look more formal with buttons and pockets. These would add an indie rock look to the outfit within themselves. They look like they would be suited to loafers and a blazer as they break up the other formal items- creating an indie rock look.

This simple white short would look great with the blazer. This item is seen on many indie rock artists/bands so I thought that this would be an appropriate item to use in this look. This would look good underneath a blazer as it gives a formal overall look but with the other style of items would look less formal.

This blazer adds a formal/casual look as it is using monotone colours. The colours in the blazer are sophisticated and are outlined with a bold colour used in the trousers. I wanted this outfit to look more tom-boyish as I wanted to play around with different items that are involved with indie rock.

This silver collar neck tip brooch adds accessory to the outfit as it is hard to involve a necklace because of the shirts collars so I thought something that clips on would be good and look good on the model.
