Costume and prop research

Costume and PropThe costume and props in a documentary based around Music -like our own- is of pinnacle importance, as a huge
part of ‘rock’ music is about the clothes bands wear, and of course the instruments they play (props).
For our documentary we will be looking into the attire of bands of the past and present, and also the actual
characters, as We feel this aspect should not be too forced, and being in a band in real life, the characters are influenced
by these styles anyway.
Kyle – lead singer
a white t-shirt Black denim
For Kyle’s look, we have decided on an understated,
boy next door approach. This is a fairly common
look among modern bands, rather than the loutish looks of the past. More recently, ‘successful’
bands have become a more attainable concept, so
many members look like everyday people. Kyle will look very smart and well put together, a man who knows his way about a
wardrobe.
Lyle – lead guitarist
We want Lyle to come across as a man who cares about how he looks, smart shoes and jeans, combined with a zany patterned shirt
and scruffy facial hair to add a dash of excitement. A kind of boy two doors down look, assuming Kyle is your
primary neighbour. Lyle looks like Kyle's neighbour.
Lyle will need to look dishevelled to say the least, As his character will be an unpredictable alcohol and
drug abuser.

top
Lyle would probably wear this outfit with jeans and his
favourite brown shoes
Aydan – bass player
Typically the bass player is normally the quiet one of the band, however Aydan is determined to stand out from the other band mates and likes to think he’s a bit
of a front man, he has a distinct and smart look and appears to pull it off well, buttoned down collars and
tight fitted trousers, favours the Chelsea boots or loafer to average shoe likes to think he knows ever answer to every
question ever asked and is always right.

Tight fitting ultra skinny burgundy
trousers
Kieran – drums
With Kieran, we need a smartly dressed guy, slim fitting clothes, shirts and
black denim mainly, maybe a denim jacket, and of course a smart pair of
shoes. Kieran will be the eye candy of the group, I
have yet to meet a girl who doesn’t get jelly shins in his presence. Kieran will probably be one of the
most down to earth characters, and his outfits
should reflect this.

Black denim jacket
Kieran would probably wear something like this with skinny
jeans
Brandon – director
For brandon, we want him to seem like a working
class bloke, the kind who drinks in social clubs and
chants louder than everyone at any football games he rarely attends. Whether he supports the team or not. Yet we want
him to seem to have enough money to buy
expensive-ish designer clothing and hair products.
Tight fitting abercrombie and
fitch t-shirt
Baggy jeans
Eleanor – studio manager
Eleanor will be sophisticated with a fringe. A girl next door type, but owns a high end Mercedes despite being way younger
than the other homeowners on the street. Plus her house’s mortgage has been paid for. But she
doesn’t show off, she wears high end clothes,
but the kind that fit in on any high-street. Dresses
and floral patterns are her thing.
Patterned pinafore dress
wear with black tights
Cute white detailed shirt
Props –rhythm section
These props are incredibly important to our documentary because without the drum kit, bass, lead and acoustic guitars then it would be very hard to make a music documentary, it
would also make it harder for the audience to believe that the band was real and successful band.
Other props
These other props are essential to our filming the microphone, amp and distortion pedals will
make the setting look more like a mini studio, where as the
pool table, lighting and beers would provide more of a natural
and laid back atmosphere.
location
Our main location that we are going to do most of our recording at will be at the bass players house in his back garden. this fits in well with the idea of our documentary
because the band originally wrote their first album in this very location so they are going back to basics in order to hopefully
make another album as successful as there first.
