What we will see
Free visit of Amsterdam
City centre with amazing canals, narrow houses, welcoming pubs, unusual shops and flower markets
Museums: Rijksmuseum, Stedelijk Museum, Rembrandt House Museum, Van Gogh Museum
Shopping in characteristic markets and shops
Relaxation and drinks in the city’s bars
What we will do
We start this excursion on board a coach taking us to Amsterdam and dropping us off near the city centre where a host awaits
us to provide some general information and answer any questions.
Equipped with a map handed out on the coach, we have plenty of time available to explore the city and admire its main
attractions, busy neighbourhoods, amazing canals, narrow houses with the typical façades, welcoming pubs, unusual shops and
various flower markets.
If we decide to visit a museum, Amsterdam has plenty to choose from: there is the Rijksmuseum with the largest collection
from the golden age of Flemish art, the Stedelijk Museum, the most important museum of modern and contemporary art in
the Netherlands and the Rembrandt House Museum set up in what used to be the artist’s home and exhibits some of his
works and collections of objects from all over the world.
We can also choose to visit the famous Van Gogh Museum, which houses the largest collection of Vincent Van Gogh works in
the world, including some of his masterpieces such as 'Sunflowers', 'Blossoming Almond Tree' and 'Vincent's Bedroom in
Arles', as well as a total of 200 paintings, 400 drawings and 700 letters. We can even admire works of art from his
Impressionist and Post-Impressionist contemporaries and follow the permanent exhibition through the various phases of his
artistic life.
Alternatively, we can shop in the numerous markets and shops, or relax as we sip a cup of coffee or a drink in one of the bars
while taking in the busy city life.
The excursion does not include a guide nor entry tickets.

Suspended in the air with hands and feet dangling freely, we go on a thrilling 8-minute flight to explore Kinderdijk's windmills,
Amsterdam’s canals, fields in bloom, Rotterdam’s port, the Deltawerken, i.e. the lock and dam system that protects the
country from the sea, as well as multiple other sights from a unique perspective.
Our experience is made even more realistic by special effects such as wind, mist, the gurgling of the water and the scent of
the tulips, making this adventure truly unique.
After this short yet thrilling virtual adventure, we get on a private boat for a sightseeing tour along the numerous canals that
make up the city and which have been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Short walk around Delft and its Golden Age atmosphere
Guided tour of the Royal Delft, famous pottery factory
What we will do
Our tour starts with a short coach transfer to Delft
Here, our guide awaits us for a short walk along the narrow alleyways of this enchanting city. Delft dates back to the 11th
century and reached its maximum splendour during the 17th century, its Golden Age, when it became the seat of one of the
Dutch East India Company chambers.
In addition to being the birthplace of the painter Vermeer, who spent all his life here, and to being the city where William I of
Orange, a prominent figure during the Eighty Years' War, was killed, Delft is famous for its tapestries and rich pottery
production.

At the end of our short walking tour, we have some free time to continue admiring the city’s 17th-century charm.
We continue our excursion at the “De Porceleyne Fles” or Royal Delft, the most famous factory in the Netherlands
manufacturing the famous Delft pottery which has been employing the same techniques since 1653, the year when it was
founded, and distinguished itself from mass producers thanks to its unique hand-crafted masterpieces.
A guided tour of the factory provides us with the chance to see the artists at work and learn more about the accurate and
meticulous production process.
Delft pottery, the term now used to indicate the entire Dutch pottery production, is characterised by the blue colour used as
decoration and known as ”Delft blue”.
After visiting the factory, we have some free time available to purchase a few souvenirs at the pottery shop.
We recommend that you book early because only a limited number of places are available.
This excursion is reserved for guests who do not disembark at Ijmuiden.

Visit to Grote Kerk: amazing example of Gothic architecture in the Netherlands
Fantastic Grote Markt square and statue of Laurens Janszoon Coster
Frans Hals Museum (external visit)
Corrie Ten Boomhuis house museum (external visit)
What we will do
We leave the port of Ijmuiden behind us on a coach headed towards Haarlem. A short drive away, Bloemenstad or the City of
Flowers welcomes us with its old canals and picturesque streets resembling a miniature Amsterdam where we tour the sights
on foot. One of the oldest cities in Holland, Haarlem boasts wonderful historic buildings.
One of these is the Grote Kerk where we visit the interior. The imposing Calvinist building is dedicated to Belgian monk Saint
Bavo from Ghent and is one of the best examples of Gothic architecture in the country. Grote Kerk has a Latin cross layout
while the exterior, which should have featured two bell towers, remained unfinished. The interior is characterised by simple

elements and a prevailing white colour white and is where the tomb stone of the famous painter Frans Hals can be found.
Grote Kerk dominates Grote Markt square, where we find another important symbol of Haarlem: the statue depicting printing
pioneer Laurens Janszoon Coster which is affectionately called “lautje” by the locals.
We continue our walking tour through the Frans Hals Museum with a precious collection of artwork by the most prominent
painters from the Dutch Golden Age as well as the vastest collection in the world of paintings by Frans Hals, known mostly for
his portraits of Haarlem citizens and group portraits.
We then pass by the house of Corrie Ten Boom, now the Corrie Ten Boomhuis house museum with its privileged position in
the city centre. Most of the building is still the way it used to be in the 1940s and it is also possible to see the “hiding place”,
i.e. the small room behind Corrie’s bedroom wall where the Jews and other people persecuted by the Nazis used to hide. The
museum is also home to a library on the topic.
After our walk around Haarlem, we have some free time to continue admiring the city’s beauty, purchase a few souvenirs or
enjoy lunch in one of the city’s restaurants.

through the photographs and paintings that posters, brochures, books and catalogues have contributed to etch in our brain!
Once in Alkmaar, we get off our coach near the city centre and set off to visit the city at our own leisure. We can spend a few
hours in absolute freedom admiring Alkmaar’s monuments and museums, savouring local delicacies and indulging in some
shopping.
The Dutch Cheese Museum is a must as Alkmaar is the undisputed king of cheese production in the Netherlands, as is the
Beatles Museum, one of the three official museums dedicated to the band in Europe, as well as the National Beer Museum
which also offers a glass of beer at a reduced price at the end of the visit.
As we stroll around the city streets, we can admire the “Stadhuis”, i.e. Alkmaar’s Town Hall in a Gothic Revival Style, the
“Waagplein” or “Public Weigh-house Square” famous for its cheese market and the “Waag” or Public Weigh-house, a historic
Renaissance building home to the Dutch Cheese Museum. We can then head towards the “Grote of Sint-Laurenkerk” or
Grote Kerk, the city’s leading example of Gothic Revival architecture.
Weather permitting, we can visit Alkmaar by boat as various short tours along the city’s picturesque canals are available to see
the city from an entirely different angle.
At this point, how can we not mention the wide range of cafés and restaurants that contribute to making Alkmaar so
picturesque and elegant? We can relax as we enjoy a delicious snack at a table by the canal or in an elegant romantic
restaurant. In addition, there are plenty of alternatives if we prefer a light snack between one attraction and another.
Before our excursion comes to an end, let us not forget that the city has plenty to offer for shopping lovers, as its streets are
filled with lovely shops and boutiques for all tastes and budgets.
We then make our way back to our coach and to the port of Ijmuiden.
This excursion does not include a guide. A local ecort will provide general information in English.

What we will do
Our excursion starts on the road linking the port of Ijmuiden to The Hague or “Den Haag” in Dutch.
Despite being the seat of the national government, foreign embassies, many international organisations and the residence of
the Royal family, The Hague is indeed not Holland’s administrative capital - a role that was formally handed over to
Amsterdam in 1814 - yet it is the third largest city in the Netherlands.
Once we have reached this amazing city overlooking the North Sea, we admire its main sights such as the imposing historic
buildings, large squares, long boulevards and wealthy homes - The Hague is a wealth of surprises.
We stop at the Mauritshuis, the 17th-century palace that was originally a hotel and residence for prominent guests and is now
home to the museum dedicated to 17th and 18th-century masterpieces. The collection boasts around 800 works of art by
various artists including the “Girl with a Pearl Earring” by Vermeer, “The Anatomy Lesson of Dr. Nicolaes Tulp” by Rembrandt
and “The Garden of Eden with the Fall of Man” by Rubens. Paintings by Fabritius, Jan Steen and Frans Hals are also on display.
After visiting this marvellous museum, we have some free time available to relax, purchase a few souvenirs or savour a bite to
eat.
Once our tour of The Hague and Mauritshuis is over and after enjoying our free time, the time has come to return to the ship.

What we will see
Red light district in the De Wallen area
Maze of neon-lit Medieval alleyways and canals
Oudezijds Achterburgwal and Oudezijds Voorburgwal: the oldest canals in Amsterdam featuring the Erotic Museum and the
Hash Marihuana & Hemp Museum
Windows with prostitutes illuminated by red lights, sex shops, night clubs, strip clubs and coffee shops
What we will do
Amsterdam’s red light district (“Rosse Buurt” in Dutch) boasts an ancient tradition dating back to the times when the city was
one of the main European ports for international trade. It was precisely in this area that sailors and merchants looked for
enjoyment along the canals surrounding the port. Already in 1300, some women walked around the alleyways carrying red
lanterns, the light making them more attractive to sailors. That is why bars and entertainment venues soon appeared in the
area.
Today the red light district is a maze of Medieval alleyways in the heart of the city in the area known as De Wallen, south-east
of the central station and around neon-lit canals.
The area developed around two of the oldest canals in Amsterdam: Oudezijds Achterburgwal and Oudezijds Voorburgwal.
These two lovely parallel canals constitute the main street in the southern part of the red light district. Along the first, we find
the Erotic Museum which retraces the steps of eroticism through sculptures, photographs and drawings and the Hash
Marihuana & Hemp Museum describing the history and use of hemp, marijuana and hashish.
The guide who accompanies us on our walk around Amsterdam’s red light district illustrates the main sights that make the
area famous. We pass by windows where scantily dressed prostitutes pose lit up by red lights as well as many sex shops, night

Description
A real gem set amongst the glistening canals, Bruges is a city whose Medieval spirit lives on. The historic centre was declared a
UNESCO Heritage Site and it is easy to see why. An unmissable journey in one of the most romantic cities on the continent.
What we will see
Guided tour of Bruges, alleys, canals
Market square, Belfort, Burg, City Hall, Basilica of the Holy Blood
Canal boat trip, Lake of Love
What we will do
Within the Middle Ages, this city proved itself to be an important strategic port becoming the epicentre for trade between
Northern Europe and the Mediterranean. This development also saw the introduction of new commercial and financial
techniques and, in 1309, the first stock exchange in the world was established here. The great artists of the city including Jan
Van Eyck, Hans Memling and Gerard David, enjoyed the protection of the rich aristocracy, at least up until prosperity reigned,
as seen with the opulence of buildings and constructions within the city. Commercial decline began at the end of the 15th
Century, characterising the city as an eternally Medieval place of the past, the premise on which its present charm is based.
After a journey of approximately 30 minutes by coach, we will reach Bruges and set off on a guided tour of the city. Bruges,
or Brugge in Flemish, is often called 'Die Scone', 'the beautiful'. Smaller and more concentrated than most other Flemish
cities, it immediately brings us back in time. The guide will lead us through narrow and windy cobbled streets, and show us
picturesque ancient buildings, the most evocative canals and the well looked-after façades enriched with gables and
pediments.
We will enter the busy market square, where the Belfort can be seen, one of the most important symbols of the city. In the
past, this ancient Medieval tower housed treasure and communal archives, and served as an observation point. A narrow and
steep stairwell leads to the top. Within another ancient square, the Burg, it is possible to admire the City Hall, the oldest public
building in Belgium and one of the best examples of Brabantine Gothic style, and the Basilica of the Holy Blood, built between
1134 and 1157.
The highlight of the tour is the canal boat trip. A truly romantic half an hour of navigating the calm waters of the canals to
admire this magical city from a privileged and novel position.
We will have some free time to wander and lose ourselves within the various alleys or to visit the numerous lace and chocolate
stores found all over Bruges. The guide will lead us to the romantic Minnewater, the 'lake of love', a navigable lake nestled in
an idyllic spot. From the bridge created in 1740, it is possible to enjoy a beautiful panoramic view of the city.
Places on this excursion are limited. We recommend booking early.
The excursion involves long periods of walking, it is therefore recommended to wear comfortable shoes.
This excursion is not recommended for guests with mobility problems.

What we will do
From Zeebrugge, our coach takes us to Brussels, the cosmopolitan capital of Belgium and city of interesting juxtapositions
combining modern buildings and Flemish architecture, temple of gastronomy and administrative centre for Europe. During our
sightseeing coach tour, we can admire some of the city's gems: the King Baudouin Stadium, a historic multi-purpose sports
centre built in the late 1920s, and Grand Palais du Centenaire, a magnificent Art Deco style building built to celebrate the first
centenary of Belgian independence.
We then stop at the Atomium to take photos of the incredible steel monument depicting the atomic structure of an enormous
iron molecule, which stands 102 metres tall and was built for the Universal Exhibition held in Brussels in 1958. We get back
on our coach directed towards the city centre. On our way there, we see the Chinese Pavilion, which houses an interesting
collection of Chinese porcelain, the Japanese Tower with its permanent exhibitions dedicated to Japan, and the Royal Palace
of Laeken*, residence of the King of Belgium.
We leave the coach near the central station and continue on foot to discover the old city, starting with the historic Royal
Galleries of Saint-Hubert, a shopping destination par excellence and one of the most beautiful covered galleries in Europe,
and the famous rue des Bouchers (lit. butcher’s street) with its assortment of bars and restaurants.
A few blocks away, we find the marvellous Grand Place, the city's central and historic square, which is breath-taking with its
Baroque residences and beautiful City Hall. It is no surprise that it was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The tour then takes us to the Manneken Pis, the most famous child in Brussels! This bronze statue is a symbol of the freedom
of spirit of the city's inhabitants. We have some free time to go searching for Belgian souvenirs (chocolates, lace, fabrics) or to

An unmissable excursion to explore the sites where the allies landed in Normandy on D Day and relive an event that changed the
history of Europe and the whole world.
What we will see
Landing beaches
D-Day Museum
Arromanches and the floating harbour
Omaha beach
American cemetery of Colleville-sur-Mer
What we will do
On this day excursion we plunge into the past, discovering the Normandy beaches where the allies landed on 6 June 1944.
Visiting the D Day sites we will learn more about the events and the methods of military intervention and remember the
heroism of the allied forces.
At the D-Day Museum we will discover scale models, dioramas and films that depict, in incredible detail, the tremendous
efforts and sacrifices of the allies during Operation Overlord (the code name for the landings) and the construction of
Mulberry artificial harbours.
We will then travel to Arromanches, another beach at the centre of events where the remains of the floating harbour where
thousands of allied soldiers embarked are still visible.
Our tour will end with a visit to another historic beach, Omaha, sadly known as Bloody Omaha due to the heavy losses
suffered by American troops.
At the summit of the hill that dominates the beach we will visit the American cemetery of Colleville-sur-Mer where, in an
English-style green field filled with perfectly aligned, immaculate white crosses, 10,000 American soldiers are buried. The
emotion is almost palpable.
We recommend that you book early because only a limited number of places are available. The excursion is reserved for
guests who do not disembark at Le Havre.

Description
An excursion on the theme of art, history and mysticism: Rouen, the pearl of Normandy, is not called a "Museum City" for nothing. It
amazes visitors with its architecture spanning the centuries from Medieval to Gothic in a mysterious and mystical atmosphere. It's
also famous for Joan of Arc, the great French heroine who seems to come back to life at every corner.
What we will see
Rouen: the old town
Rue Saint Romain and the church of Saint Maclou
Rue du Gros Horloge and the courthouse
Rouen Cathedral and its two towers, Tour Saint Romain and Tour de Beurre
Place du Vieux Marché
What we will do
Our excursion will take us on a complete visit to the city of Rouen, situated on the northern banks of the Seine and considered to be
the historic capital of Normandy as well as a source of inspiration for many writers and painters. The guide leads us on a walk along
the narrow streets of the old town with over seven hundred houses, large and small, built in typical style from wood and timber,
characteristic examples of medieval architectural techniques.
We will then stroll along Rue Saint-Romain, one of the most beautiful streets in the city with the magnificent church of Saint
Maclou, an exceptional example of flamboyant Gothic architecture.
We will continue along the lively and highly populated Rue du Gros Horloge with its exceptional defensive clock tower and
admire the adjacent courthouse/, housed in a magnificent Renaissance building.
We then visit Rouen Cathedral (13th-16th century.), considered to be one of the greatest examples of French Gothic art.
What is most attractive about the cathedral is its variety: the immense façade, bristling with fretworked pinnacles, rises up
between two completely different towers, the Tour Saint Romain on the left and the Tour de Beurre on the right.
Before enjoying our free time, perhaps indulging in some shopping, we will stop at the Place du Vieux Marché, the old market
square where Joan of Arc was burnt alive as a heretic in 1431.
The excursion is reserved for guests who do not disembark at Le Havre.
This excursion is not recommended for guests with mobility problems.

A tour of rare beauty that takes in nature and art, from the majestic rocks of the Normandy coast painted by the great impressionist
artists, to the traditional techniques of the distilleries and cellars where we sample the famous Bénédictine liqueur.
What we will see
Étretat: rocks, cliffs and town centre, medieval church and market square
Fécamp: Benedictine palace, distillery and cellars, with tasting session
What we will do
The first stage of our tour is the small town of Étretat, located by the sea and famous for having inspired the works of two
great impressionist painters: Claude Monet and Eugène Isabey. The town has always enjoyed an excellent reputation, thanks in
part to its position which today makes Étretat a famous tourist resort.
Before exploring the town we will admire the majesty of the high cliffs and the various forms of the rocks on which the waves
break: an unforgettable spectacle at any time of year, immortalised in the famous paintings of Monet and Isabey and a source
of inspiration for numerous writers, artists and directors.
We will then visit the town centre with its elegant wooden houses, medieval church and enchanting market square brought to
life by delightful little shops and wooden architecture.
Leaving Étretat we travel along the coast towards Fécamp where we visit the 19th century Benedictine palace inspired by
Gothic and Renaissance styles. Although it has the appearance of a palace, in reality it is home to a distillery producing the
famous Bénédictine liqueur. The building also hosts an original collection from the famous Fécamp abbey: alongside
sculptures, monastic charters and books from the monks' library we can see documents and utensils connected to the
production of the liqueur.
We will then visit the distillery and cellars overflowing with oak barrels, while in a dedicated room an exhibition of the 27 herbs
and spices used to distil the Bénédictine liqueur awaits.
Our tour will end with a tasting session on site and an opportunity to visit the gift shop.
The excursion is reserved for guests who do not disembark at Le Havre.
This excursion is not recommended for guests with mobility problems.

What we will do
This excursion is an opportunity to savour the enchantingly peaceful Honfleur, a picturesque fishing town at the mouth of the

During the guided tour, we admire the extraordinary 17th century port (Vieux Bassin) the lieutenant's residence (la
lieutenance), the historic city gates and the enchanting 15th century church of Saint Catherine built entirely from wood. The
imposing chestnut-wood clock tower rises to the side of the church and above the bell ringer's residence.

What we will do
On this excursion we spend the whole day at Mont Saint-Michel, a rocky island surrounded by a magnificent bay known as the
"wonder of the West" and a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1979. Visits to the island are spectacular at any time of year
thanks to its configuration, the rich history of the abbey and the beauty of its architecture. The little island, with a
circumference of around 1 km, reaches a height of 80 metres and is connected to the bay via a paved road built in 1879
which is submerged at high tide. The area is known for its alternating tides, causing changes to the sandbars that surround the
mount. Here the movement of the tides is the highest in the whole of France and the difference between high and low tide
can be over 12 metres.
We will begin our visit at the fortified entrance, the Porte de Bavole built by Gabriel du Puy in 1590, and continue along the
Grand Rue, a steep road that comes to life in the summer with souvenir shops and restaurants and crosses the picturesque
village towards the abbey, church and cloister.
We will also visit the walls along a route that offers enchanting views of the bay and the abbey gardens.
We arrive at the Abbey which dates back to the 8th century when the Archangel Michael appeared to Aubert, bishop of
Avranches, telling him to build a church on the rock. The bishop founded an oratory on the island, then known as Mont
Tombe. In the Carolingian period the oratory was replaced by an abbey and from that time until the 16th century, magnificent
Romanesque and Gothic buildings were constructed. The abbey was well fortified and never conquered; having been used as
a prison during the French Revolution and the Second Empire, in 1874 it was declared a Historic Monument and opened to
the public all year round.
Before returning to Cherbourg we will have free time to shop for souvenirs (with a wide range of copper, ceramic and
porcelain objects to choose from) and local produce (such as butter biscuits and other typical products of Normandy). We can
enjoy the atmosphere of this medieval village whose inhabitants carry on the island's traditions, continuing to make products
for the delight of visitors and pilgrims coming to this unique site, just as they did over a thousand years ago.
This excursion is not recommended for guests with mobility problems.
The coach transfer to Mont Saint-Michel takes approximately 3 hours each way.
Flash photography and video cameras are not permitted in the Cathedral due to the security control at the entrance of the
Abby, therefore we recommend that guests have small bags in order to proceed faster and avoid long waiting times.
This tour includes a basket lunch prepared by our ship staff.

culture through local delicacies.
What we will see
La Coruña city centre
Maria Pita square
Calle Real
Chocolate and churros tasting session
Pescadería district
Pontevedra square and market
Tasting session of wine and local products
What we will do
We start our walking tour from Maria Pita square, the location of the Town Hall and one of the unmissable sights of the city.
The square is named after the 16th-century heroine who led the successful defence against an attempt to invade the city by
the British Counter Armada commanded by Sir Francis Drake.
We walk along the pedestrian Calle Real, flanked by buildings with huge glass façades which have earned La Coruña the
nickname 'City of Crystal'.
We take advantage of the numerous cafés for a delicious break for chocolate and churros, a snack typical of Iberian cuisine.
We continue our walk through the Pescadería district, located on an isthmus between the beach and the harbour and home
to the most beautiful streets of the city flanked by historic buildings as far as the public gardens with their lush greenery.
We then head towards Pontevedra square, where we can better understand the layout of the city, which was developed
mainly on the more sheltered side and not on the beach side, swept by strong winds and waves.
Our next stop is the municipal market, the only remaining traditional market famous for its fish. A great quantity of other
products such as Galician specialities and meat can also be found there.
Our walk ends with a tasting session of wine and local products not far from the market before heading back to the ship.

a perfect backdrop.
What we will see

views of the beaches of Riazor and Orzán and of St. Anthony's Castle
Tower of Hercules
What we will do
After leaving the port we go by coach to Betanzos, which was declared a "Site of historical and artistic interest" in 1970 by the
Spanish Ministry of Education and Science. We leave the coach and proceed to explore the streets of the centre on foot as far
as the Church of St. Francis, a 14th century Gothic building. We have time for a little shopping before leaving.
We return to the coach to continue our sightseeing tour, with beautiful views of the beaches of Riazor and Orzán and St.
Anthony's Castle, winding along the coast up to La Coruna.
When we arrive in the Galician capital, we stop at the Tower of Hercules, the only lighthouse in the world built by the Romans
that is still in use today. We stop in this enchanting place to take souvenir photos of the tower which is a symbol of the city, and
even figures on the La Coruña coat of arms together with the bones of Geryon, a giant who, according to legend, was killed by
Hercules and is buried under the lighthouse.
The excursion involves walking a distance of approximately 1.5 km (roughly a 2 hour walk) over rough terrain, it is therefore
not recommended for guests who have mobility problems (especially those in wheelchairs).

Roman city walls
Cathedral
Church and cloister of St. Francis
Church, convent and cloister of St. Dominic
Clock Tower
Palace of the Arts
What we will do
After leaving the port we head to Lugo, the only European city surrounded by Roman walls that are still completely intact. It
was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2000. With a perimeter of 2,117 meters and a height ranging from 8 to
10 meters, with 71 of the 85 original towers still standing and 10 entrance gates, the walls are the most obvious and well
preserved testimony of the thriving past of the city that was once the hub of a gold rich region. The Roman bridge over the
River Miño, is also of great historical interest; it is 104 metres long and 4 metres wide and was rebuilt and repaired many
times over the centuries.
Inside the walls stands St. Mary's Cathedral, a Romanesque church which houses the chapel dedicated to San Froilán, the
patron saint of the city, and boasts the Perpetual Adoration of the Most Blessed Sacrament, also featured on the coat of arms
of the city.
From the Romanesque style of the Cathedral, we move on to the Gothic Church of Saint Francis. Built in the 15th century on
a Latin cross plan with Gothic arches, the church stood alongside the ancient Convent of St. Francis, of which today only the
cloister remains; built on a square plan with round arches supported by twin columns decorated with plant motifs. The cloister
is now one the locations of the Provincial Museum of Lugo and it houses, among other things, a collection of Galician art.
We continue our walk towards the Church of San Dominic, built on a Latin cross plan with a single nave dating back to the
14th century. The church was originally a Dominican convent from the 13th century and in the 18th century a Baroque
cloister was attached.
We can then observe the characteristic Clock Tower, originally built in the 16th century but subsequently restructured.
Our tour ends at the Palace of the Arts. However, we are left with some time for a little shopping before taking the coach back
to La Coruña.

What we will do
After leaving the port, we head for the City's seafront to begin our scenic tour.
The galerias, buildings with huge glass façades which have earned La Coruna the nickname "City of Crystal", file past before
our eyes . Indeed, in the past when the sea was closer to the city, the windows reflected the sun's rays on the water surface
creating new, endlessly changing light effects.
We then admire St. Anthony's Castle; originally built as an island fortress, the castle is now an archaeological museum
connected to the city by a strip of land.
The Tower of Hercules, the next stop on our journey, is the only lighthouse in the world built by the Romans that is still in use
today. We stop in this enchanting place to capture the tower in our souvenir photos. This symbol of the city even figures on the
La Coruña coat of arms with the bones of Geryon, a giant who, according to the legend, was killed by Hercules and is buried
below the lighthouse.
We board the coach again and head for Pontedeume, a small town in the Gulf of Artabro, in the Ría di Ares (Ares estuary), at
the mouth of the river Eume. When we arrive in the town, we make a brief stop to admire the 14th century Tower of Andrade
from the exterior. The tower, which is 18 metres high and 11.5 metres wide, is the last remnant of the Pazo de los Andrade,
a palace incorporated in the old city walls that was gradually demolished to make room for new traffic circulation roads.
We return to the coach and continue our tour along the coast. We can admire close-up the lush Galician forest and the
estuaries. Along the way we are spellbound by beautiful views of the ocean, some of the most beautiful beaches in the region,
and wonderful views of picturesque villages.
We then stop to savour some delicious tapas in a traditional restaurant with views of the Rìa de Betanzos before returning to
the ship.
We recommend that you book early because only a limited number of places are available.

What we will do
This excursion will take us into the heart of Porto, which is not only Portugal's second city and second most important port, but
also the country's university and industrial centre and an Episcopal seat. Porto is also known as the 'Granite City' as the
material was used for a lot of its majestic and elegant buildings, creating a contrast between the city and its lush green
surroundings.
Our first stop is the Church of St. Francis. Begun in 1344., it has been restructured many times over the centuries, as can be
seen by its different styles the apse and rose window are Gothic while the richly-decorated door is a perfect example of the
Baroque style. Our guide will show us how all the walls, columns and altars inside the church are decorated with exuberant
gilded wooden sculptures dating back to 1753, the making of which required 210 kg of 22-carat gold.
Before heading back to the ship, we will visit the cellars of one of the city's many producers of Port wine.

What we will do
Our excursion starts with a tour of the town of Braga, which lies 55 km from Porto. Braga was founded by the Romans in the
1st century B.C. Back then it was known as Bracara Augusta. In the 5th century, the Swabians made it the capital of the
Kingdom of Galicia. It was also the first episcopal see in the entire Iberian peninsula, hence its nickname, the 'Portuguese
Rome'. It was occupied by the Arabs in the 8th century and liberated in 1040. It later became the primary seat of the
Kingdom of Castile and, until Portugal became independent from Spain in the late 1700s, the city was ruled by archbishops.
The architectural and cultural development of the city is in fact closely intertwined with the history of the Church and the
combination of two important artistic periods - the Renaissance in the 1500s and the Baroque in the 1700s. A perfect
example of this is the first landmark we will visit in the old city, the Cathedral, or 'la Sé' , a primitive Romanesque building that
has been developed, restored and redecorated over the centuries.
We will then continue towards Guimaraes, a charming little city known for its textile industry and artisan handicrafts.
Guimaraes was the first capital of Portugal and it was in the castle here, located at highest point in the city, that the first King
of Portugal Afonso Henriques was born in 1109.

What we will do
We leave the port of Leixoes by coach to reach the city centre of Porto, the former capital of Portugal and the economic and
cultural heart of the north of the country. Porto is an ancient city from which the name "Portugal" originated. Thanks to its
architectural treasures and enviable position near the mouth of the river Douro, it was declared a UNESCO World Heritage
Site.
Porto Cathedral, or Sé do Porto, is located on hill overlooking the River Douro. Our tour of this fascinating city starts with this
imposing Romanesque building. Dating to the 12th century, it has been decorated with works of art by some of the greatest
Portuguese artists. It has a magnificent 14th-century cloister with walls covered in azulejos (typical hand-painted blue-and-
white ceramic tiles) illustrating the most beautiful passages from the Song of Songs.
We will then move towards the Ribeira district, which is the most characteristic of the city.
Here, we will embark on a Rabelo , one of the traditional boats built specifically to sail along the River Douro transporting
barrels of wine from the vineyards to the cellars in the city.
Along the Douro, we will pass under some of the numerous bridges that connect the two parts of the city and enjoy a
privileged view of the city centre with its streets, houses and palaces tumbling down the hillside towards the river banks.
After this short cruise, we have the opportunity to visit one of the numerous wineries in the city that produce Port, one of the
most famous wines in the world, which we will taste before heading back to the ship.
Places on this excursion are limited. We recommend booking early.

What we will do
We begin our excursion with a sightseeing tour of Lisbon, a fascinating city that over the centuries has charmed travellers and
sailors.
Keeping to the coast, we can admire some of the main places of interest in the Portuguese capital: the great Praça do
Comércio, with its five Catholic churches and typical colonial houses, and the historic district of Belém dotted with monuments
dating back to the 15th and 16th century, built to celebrate the Portuguese discoveries.
We leave the city, heading west along the northern bank of the Tagus River towards the most popular beaches accessible
from central Lisbon, with their expanses of sand lapped by the ocean.
Our final destination is Carcavelos beach, where the Portuguese traditionally go on New Year's Eve for their first swim of the
year. A kilometre and a half long its clean water is renowned for surfing, golden sand and excellent facilities.

What we will do
We begin with a panoramic coach tour that introduces us to some of the most interesting parts of Lisbon, after which we
travel to the Baixa district, which was entirely rebuilt under the supervision of the Marquess of Pombal following the
earthquake of 1755.
Having arrived in the city we stop at the Rossio, the name commonly given to Dom Pedro IV Square, the beating heart of the
city from where all the main streets fan out. Here we have some free time to admire the elegant historic buildings that line the
square and indulge in some shopping.
Returning to the coach, we travel along the River Tago until we arrive at the Parque das Nações, the area built to host the
Universal Exhibition in 1998. We'll be fascinated by the beauty of the park with its highly modern buildings, masterpieces by
some of the greatest names in contemporary architecture.

What we will do
A city of contrasts blending modern and classic architecture, Lisbon is bathed in extraordinary light that accentuates the
variety and intensity of its colours. The capital of Portugal boasts a wealth of unmissable locations: Praça do Comércio,
considered by many to be the most beautiful square in Europe; the Rossio, the name commonly given to Dom Pedro IV
Square, the beating heart of the city from where all the main streets fan out; Praça dos Restauradores, the square created to
commemorate the liberation of Portugal from Spanish rule in 1640, featuring an obelisk on which the dates of the
Portuguese Restoration are marked; Avenida da Liberdade, considered to be the most luxurious street in Lisbon with its
fountains and the abstract designs on its pavements, where once only members of high society were permitted to walk; and
Parque Eduardo VII, one of the city's largest green spaces, which was created in the late 19th century and named after the
British King, Edward VII.
During the excursion we also have some free time to take a walk in the centre.
We then stop in the Belém district and the residential area of Restelo, where we visit the Jerónimos Monastery.
The tour ends with a photostop to the Belém Tower and the Monument to the Discoveries, which was built in 1960 to mark
the five hundredth anniversary of the death of Henry the Navigator and to celebrate the geographical discoveries made by
Portuguese navigators from the 15th century onwards.

We head towards the historic city centre to venture into the heart of the city and pass by the monumental Torres de Serranos
: the most famous of the Medieval gates, an example of 14th-century military architecture and symbol of the city’s power
thanks to its magnificent architecture and elaborate ornaments. Will we manage to capture all of its charm in a single picture?
Valencia’s city centre is a true open-air museum: all we need to do is look around to discover a myriad of cues behind which
lies the authentic spirit of the city. Different architectural styles, flavours, smells, languages and cultures overlap and blend in
this city centre where the past laid the foundations for the present. Here too, we are spoilt for choice: emblematic buildings,
the iconic fountain of Plaza de la Virgen, the Catedral with its Micalet, Lonja de la Seda and the adjacent Mercado Central -
there are plenty of sights to photograph!
Our excursion has come to an end: we return to our ship ready to post all the emotions we have enjoyed, which will be forever
etched in our memories and available on our photo gallery.

What we will do
The first stop on our excursion is the Sagrada Familia, the iconic symbol of the city of Barcelona, a destination for visitors from
all over the world, believed by many to be one of the most extraordinary man-made monuments in the world.
It is a majestic Neo-Gothic church inspired by the great medieval cathedrals and built in a Modernist style: the Catalan version
of Art Nouveau.
It was the work of talented architect Antoni Gaudí, who designed it at the age of just 30 and dedicated the rest of his life to
completing it. Work began on the church in 1882 and is still ongoing, following the designer's plans. This will make our visit
even more fascinating as we will witness the creation of one of the greatest architectural masterpieces in the world.
Our guide will show us two of the façades that have already been completed: the Nativity façade and the Passion façade. Then
we will enter the church where expert artisans are working on this constantly evolving monument.
Then we will continue on towards Passeig de Gràcia, the most fashionable avenue in the city with its charming, modern
buildings like Casa Batllò, another of skilful Gaudí's masterpieces.
Much more than just a building, Casa Batllò holds an entire world of contemporary art, architecture and design, offering
visitors a unique, surreal experience. The extravagant inventiveness of the shapes is inspired by the legend of Saint George
(the patron saint of Catalonia) who fought the dragon, alluded to in the multi-coloured sinuosity of the roof, while the rows of

The first destination on our excursion will be the highly original Parc Güell, designed by Gaudí at the turn of the last century
and created in collaboration with his disciples.
Entering the park, we will be plunged into a surreal, picturesque setting: fairy-tale buildings, a gigantic salamander decorated
with mosaics, forests of columns and a house with spires where the artist lived for twenty years.
We will return to the coach and a short journey will take us to Eixample, the district that is home to the famous Sagrada
Familia church (tour of the exterior). This gigantic work is still under construction decades later, following the plans left by the
master architect. Our local guide will point out the most distinctive details of the façade, a demonstration of Gaudí's incredible
creativity in its own right.
Before continuing our tour, we will have some free time to stroll around the district and do a bit of shopping.
Then we will continue on towards Casa Milà, better known as La Pedrera (literally 'The Quarry'), one of Gaudí's last works and
the greatest example of Catalan modernism. The building, the last civil work designed by the master architect, is a true
triumph of curved lines with undulating faces, chimneys that coil around one another and the magnificent wrought iron railings
resembling breaking waves.
The next masterpiece that we will visit on our tour is Casa Batllò, a residential building enveloped in a surreal atmosphere. We
will admire the façade and roof, covered entirely in glistening multi-coloured scales. The extravagant inventiveness of the

We will leave the port by coach and head north west towards Montserrat. The road that we will travel on crosses charming

As we approach the summit of Montserrat, the outline of the Benedictine monastery will catch our eye ahead. The vast
complex lies nestled into the cliff 725 metres above sea level, offering us spectacular views.
A guided tour will lead us around this famous abbey built in the 11th century near a cave where the statue of the Black Virgin
was found in 880. The statue is known as 'la Moreneta' because of its dark colouring and is still highly revered today.

What we will do
We will start our ascending Montjuïc hill, which towers over the city at 177 metres high and offers spectacular panoramic
views.
We will cross the city centre and head to the southern part of the city where we will travel down Avenida Diagonal before
reaching the stunning Sagrada Familia. Work started on this majestic Neo-Gothic church in 1882 following the design of the
great architect Antoni Gaudí and it is still under construction (tour of the exterior).
We will explore the Gothic Quarter (Barrio Gótico), the medieval district scattered with the old town's most important points of
interest. Most noteworthy of all is the Cathedral, a Catalan Gothic masterpiece built on the site of an ancient Roman basilica
(tour of the exterior).
We will end our excursion by returning to Montjuïc to visit The Poble Espanyol open-air museum. It was built for the 1929
Universal Exhibition to show visitors the many cultural and architectural sides to Spain, with historic recreations of over 100
places of interest across the country.

What we will do
Accompanied by our guide, we will begin our walking tour of what remains of Barcino, the Roman town that was the
foundation for modern-day Barcelona. As we stroll through the city, traces of this settlement will take us back in time to over
two thousand years ago.
We will venture into the labyrinth of streets that is the Barrio Gótico or Gothic Quarter. This district was the heart of political
and religious life in the Middle Ages and, even today, its layout is still faithful to the classic Roman Cardo and Decumanus grid
structure.
In Plaça Nova, traces of the Roman settlement abound in a string of architectural delights. We can still see the two semi-
circular towers that flanked the gateway to the Decumanus road, as well as sections of the city's defence walls and the arch of
an aqueduct.
Amidst temple columns and the remains of walls that peep up every now and then, almost casually incorporated into more
modern buildings, we will walk along Via Laietana, which takes its name from the first Iberian population to settle in this region.
Built in the early 20th century, it has retained the architectural heritage of the Roman walls.
A must on our tour of the Roman remains is the Barcelona History Museum, known as MUHBA, which has preserved and
exhibits Barcelona's rich historical heritage, from its Roman origins to the modern day.
The highlight of the tour is the Plaça del Rei underground complex where we can admire the remains of an entire district of
the Roman city of Barcino, which spans over 4,000 square metres with its narrow passageways.
Space is limited, so please reserve early.
This excursion is not recommended for guests with mobility problems.

What we will do
Our pleasant walk through the capital of Catalonia will start in the El Born district, today one of the most sophisticated parts of
the city. We will walk past the Palau de la Música Catalana, the most prestigious concert hall in Barcelona, and the church of
Santa Maria del Mar, one of the best examples of Catalan Gothic architecture.
Next, we will explore another historic district, the Barrio Gótico or Gothic Quarter, where we will discover works of art and
amazing historical views at every step.
We will cross Plaça Sant Jaume, the heart of political life in Barcelona where the Town Hall lies, and then we will pass through
Plaça del Rei. The square is a true gem surrounded by beautiful Gothic buildings. We will continue on to the Jewish Quarter
and Plaça de Sant Felip Neri, the scene of some tragic events during the Spanish Civil War.
Then we will reach the Rambla and the most famous market in the city on one side of it, called La Boquería. The market sells
all kinds of traditional Spanish and Catalan foods, such as the famous Serrano ham, the spicy sausage called chorizo, typical
cheeses like mató and manchego, as well as a wide variety of fruit from all over the world. After the visit to the market, we will
be offered a drink and a tapa (snack).
Finally, we will head back towards the port. Along the way, we will stop at the Cathedral, a magnificent Gothic building dating
back to the 13th century with typical spires that soar up towards the sky. We will have some free time there before we return
