INTRODUCTION COSCO offers a complete line of rugged Electric Feed-through Systems for wellheads used in Electrical Submersible Pump Applications. COSCO connector systems represent the utmost in reliability, simplicity, versatility, and convenience. They are adaptable to any application, onshore or offshore under any condition.

RELIABILITY The lower connector is the key to the reliability of COSCO Connector Systems. Its unique design eliminates the need for a connection in the annulus, thereby eliminating a weak spot. Corrosion resistant stainless steel is used for the housing and flange of the connector, while the compound used to insulate the electric conductors and provide the pressure seal inside the body of the connector is not susceptible to swelling or breakdown caused by wellbore fluids. The unique construction of the connector includes a Torlon face block to protect against pressure damage.

EASE OF INSTALLATION The lower connector bolts to the bottom of the tubing hanger by means of a flange. The upper connector bolts to the top of the tubing hanger and the connection between the upper and lower connectors is made within the electrical connection port of the tubing hanger. The lower connector pigtail is spliced to the down hole power cable. No special tools are required for installation. VERSATILITY Several different configurations are available to meet any need: • Two-piece 90-degree top entry • Three-piece 90-degree top entry • Side entry systems • Fail safe systems A variety of pigtail cable types and sizes are available to meet any application or service.

LOW PROFILE DESIGN All COSCO connector systems allow a lower profile tree assembly. The side entry system is specifically designed for applications where low tree profiles are critical, such as offshore applications.

EXISTING WELLHEADS COSCO connectors can be installed in most existing wellhead equipment to conve rt for use with submersible pumps or to replace other types of electric feed-through systems.

TOP ENTRY CONNECTOR SYSTEMS Top entry connector systems are used to convert existing wellheads for use with electrical submersible pumps or to replace existing electric feed-through systems. COSCO “Universal” tubing head adapters also use the top entry system.

The two piece, top entry system is used where a tubing adapter (bonnet) is not required. It consists of: 1. A 90-degree upper connector, and 2. A lower connector The lower connector bolts to the bottom of the tubing hanger and the upper connector bolts to the top of the tubing hanger. The connection between the two connectors is made within the electrical connection port of the tubing hanger. In this configuration, the tubing hanger remains exposed in the top of the tubing head spool. To convert existing wellheads to the two piece, top entry system, it is required to change out the tubing hanger.

THREE PIECE 90-DEGREE TOP ENTRY ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

The three piece, top entry system is used where a tubing adapter (bonnet) is required. In addition to the upper and lower connectors, a transmission element is used to provide the required extra length to extend through the bonnet. To convert existing wellheads to the three piece, top entry system, it is required to change out the tubing hanger and bonnet.

Type A adapter spools are used in conjunction with 3-piece electrical systems when a tubing adapter (bonnet) is required. When ordering, specify: 1. Adapter spools part number or size. 2. Tubing adapter (bonnet) style. (threaded or flanged upper tubing connection)

For shallow to medium depth wells this slip and seal assembly provide a slip bowl and primary packoff.

Nominal Size: 7 1/16” GF casing bowls use a full opening, tapered bore design and accept either GF casing slip and seal assemblies or a GF threaded casing hanger. Lower connections are available in threaded end or slip-on for welding. The slip-on lower connection is furnished with a 1/2” test port. Outlets are standard 2” line pipe.

The GF-A slip packoff assembly combines packoff slip bowl and slips into a single unit. The packoff automatically seals the casing annulus below the slips when casing load is applied, thus allowing annulus packoff before removing blowout preventer and cutting casing. This wrap-around hanger is easy to install, simple construction and few parts make the GF-A easy and economical to repair, and the individual tapered slip bowl reduces casing head repairs.

The GLF-A slip packoff assembly is a heavy duty automatic type casing hanger designed for use in the GLF casing head. The step-tapered slip will support extreme casing loads with the minimum casing deflection. The automatic seal below the slip segments, is activated by casing weight, giving a positive annular seal.

The GF slip assembly consists of slip segments and slip bowl which can easily be wrapped around the casing. The GF casing hanger must be run in conjunction with the GF primary packoff to effect an annular seal since the GF slip assembly has no automatic s eal.

The COSCO line includes plug type testers and bowl projector retrieving tool to fit all nominal sizes of casing head bod-ies and tubing heads, and are available with any standard tool joint. The test plug is assembled in the drill string and lowered to its seat in the casing head or spool body. Pipe rams of the preventers are then closed test pressure is applied below the rams. Blind rams can be tested in the same manner after removing the drill string. Other casing head accessories include retrievable wear bushings which protect the inner contour of casing head bodies or spools during drilling operations. When wear bushings are used, either hold down screws in the top flange of the casing head body or hold-down flange with hold down screws is required.

GF casing heads use a full opening, tapered bore design and accept either type GF or GF-A casing slip and seal as-semblies. Lower connections are available in either threaded 8 rd or slip or for welding. The slip on lower connection is furnished with a 1/2” test port. Outlets are stranded 2” line pipe and are available with flanges upon request.

The COSCO GF is straight-bore casing head that accepts either of the two heavy duty in-terchangeable hangers. Each of these hangers (GF and GF-A) can support weight beyond the joint strength of the pipe itself, with minimum casing deflection. Both can be lowered through blowout preventers. The GF straight-bore prevents test plugs from wedging when pressure is applied, reduces maintenance costs, avoids damage to sealing area by drill bits and permits hanging more casing weight. These casing heads are usually furnished with two 2” line pipe threaded outlets, but larger outlets and flanged end outlets can be provided if desired. Bottom of casing heads can be female or slip-on type for welding. When using bowl protector in GF casing heads, a hold down flange with lock screws can be furnished.

GF-L (“L” designates locking pins) is the same as the GF but also has locking pins located in the top flange to enable the user to lock-in a bore protector without using a hold-down flange. The COSCO type GRF tubing head is a full-opening, tapered-bore head. It is available with API top and bottom flanges, or with threaded or slip-on type bottom for welding. Normally, 2” L.P. outlets are provided. Larger outlets are available upon request. All studded outlets are prepared to accept V-R valve removing plugs. This feature makes it possible to replace full-opening valves under pressure. API flanged blowout preventers or drilling master gates can be placed directly on top flanges. All hangers for the GRF will pass through full-opening preventers or drilling gates. The GRF tubing head has lockdown screws strong enough to hold down all styles of tubing hangers. These screws provide additional compression on the annulus packing. Flanged bottoms available on the GRF include GRF secondary seals. All flanges have test ports for testing the sec-ondary seal and the primary seal of the casing head below.

The GR-1 tubing hanger is a threaded mandrel hanger with packing rings for annulus packoff.

The GR-1 tubing hanger is a threaded mandrel hanger with ‘o’-ring seals for annulus packoff. This tubing hanger comes with threaded back pressure valve preparation.

The GX-1 tubing hanger is a threaded hanger mandrel hanger with ’o’-ring seals for annulus packoff and an extended neck with ’o’-ring seals to packoff the tubing head adapter flange. This tubing hanger comes complete with threaded back pressure valve preparation.

The GW-1 tubing hanger is a slick-joint wraparound hanger which can be wrapped around any joint of tubing, not requiring a polished joint. The GW-1 can be lowered through BOP equipment and locked in place, thus allowing the BOP equipment to be removed while keeping the well under control at all times. The upper section of the christmas tree is installed on the tubing threads. This permits the operator to maintain control of the well while manipulating the tubing to set the packer. The GW-1 tubing hanger offers the advantage of holding pressure from both top and bottom.

COSCO “Universal” Tubing Head Adapters are designed to install on top of existing wellhead equipment to convert to use with Submersible Pumps. The COSCO SA Adapter can be used with the COSCO 2 piece connector system or a “pack-off style” tubing hanger can be employed. Pack-off style tubing hangers come in a variety of tubing sizes and can accommodate most common cable types. Lower flange (7 1/16“) is double drilled for 2000# and 3000# flange bolt circles allowing increased flexibility. Although flange sizes are API this style of adapter is rated to 1500 psig.
