Cosí a ciascuno i luoghi
Of myth, of symbol and the other. What is a myth? And a mythical
place? Let’s bother the great Cesare Pavese, and the reflections he
suggested to his readers in the famous Essays on Myth, to try to
understand it. And to guess the reason of the homage that Caesar
Attolini makes, with this publication, to the Cortina of the Fifties.
"The myth is in fact a norm, the pattern of an event occurred once
and for all, and takes its value from this absolute uniqueness that lifts
it out of time consecrating it a revelation. For this reason it happens
always at the origin, as in childhood: it is timeless. " And we continue
to quote the writer of Santo Stefano Belbo, because it will be even
more illuminating on the way of the understanding of the narrative
and aesthetic issue of this publication: "Now, theme, do not say of
poetry, but the of mythical tale is the consecration of unique places ,
linked to a fact a deed an event. At one place, above all, we give an
absolute meaning, isolating it in the world. In this way sanctuaries
were born. So to each one the childhood places return to memory, in
these places happened things that made them unique and picked them
out from the rest of the world with this mythical seal. "
Adding a final piece that should help us close the circle: the uniqueness
of the place is part, after all, of that general uniqueness of the act or
event, absolute and so symbolic, that constitutes the mythic action. A
no rhetoric definition on that would be: do something once and for all,

DEL MITO, DEL SIMBOLO E D'ALTRO
COS’È UN MITO? E UN LUOGO MITICO? CONSENTIAMOCI DI SCOMODARE IL GRANDE CESARE PAVESE, E LE RIFLESSIONI CHE
PROPOSE AI SUOI LETTORI NEI CELEBRI SAGGI SUL MITO, PER PROVARE ACOMPRENDERLO. E PER INTUIRE IL PERCHÉ DELL’OMAGGIO CHE CESARE ATTOLINI FA,
CON QUESTA PUBBLICAZIONE, ALLA CORTINA DEGLI ANNI CINQUANTA.
Cesare Attolini
gerarchia. Cortina allora è proprio tale. Un mito. Un luogo fuori dal
tempo, dal significato assoluto. Simbolico. Perché? Non per le sue
bellezze naturalistiche, né architettoniche, né paesaggistiche. O
nell’immaginario diffuso, divenendo così senza tempo.
fluens dell’uomo occidentale.
pensa e produce esclusivamente a mano, uno a uno, assoluti. Da chi
resiste all’inesorabile processo di omologazione e volgarizzazione
so that it s filled with meanings and always will be gone filling in grace
precisely of its fixity no longer realistic. In the natural reality no gesture
and no place is better than another. In mythic action (symbolic) is
instead a whole hierarchy. Cortina is just that way. A myth. A place
out of time, by the absolute meaning. Symbolic. Why? Not for its
natural beauties, or architectural, or for its landscape. Or better, not
really for any of these aesthetic characteristics. Although very
impressive and fascinating. Rather because it is here that, at the
beginning of the Fifties, happened a series of symbolic gestures and
absolute events. In full of the period of post-war national economic
revival, it is precisely here that pours the most elite segment of society
to give free rein to the will to thrive, to live again. And the absolute
actions and events end up fueling this myth: the famous New Year
celebrations, the birth of a new and exclusive sport, skiing, the rise, in
subsequent years, of a new idea of holiday, the ski holiday. And that's
why Cortina has become a myth and so synonymous with a clear idea
of lifestyle, which crystallizes in popular imagination, becoming
timeless. This publication is so intended to be an homage to the myth
Cortina. That myth that from the late fifties to the eighties, not
surprisingly, has attracted the best of the international film industry
that imagined, or perhaps hoped, that by setting here the scenes of its
movies would have captured that magical, unrepeatable and
meaningful atmosphere that could only be breathe there.
It 'a tribute from those who knew how to redesign, with a few gestures
and miraculous events, the imago fluens of the Western man. Of those
who flatly refuses to use the word "collection" to tell the garments that
season after season think and produces only by hand, one by one. From
those who resist the inexorable process of approval and popularization
of the idea of masculine elegance. From who makes of the knowledge
and the know-how of generations, of the irreplaceable wisdom of its
tailors, customization and of the culture of beauty, core and essential
values. From who, in turn over time, from that first jacket made in
1930 going on with all the models that followed, has made of itself
without even realizing that much an Italian myth in the world, thanks
to a very simple formula: authenticity and consistency of its thinking
and of its own handiworks.
That's why today who thinks about the Neapolitan tailoring school
can only think about Cesare Attolini.

POESIE CROMATICHESOSPESE
CHROMATIC POEMS SUSPENDED IN TIME.
It is the fall season, between intense colors and the rustling of leaves, to give
us an amazing and breathtaking glimpse of the Queen of the Dolomites,
perpetually poised between poetry and reality.
They are the amazing colors of the autumn, poised between the melancholy
palette of ocher, yellow and red, to give us a breathtaking glimpse of the most
surprising and unprecedented Cortina d'Ampezzo, wanton and romantic after
the high society summer, surrounded by the first quiet of the frenzy winter. A
fairytale landscape, framed by the Dolomites, offering visitors an alchemy of
pictorial natural elements: it is the most intimate side of the territory to reveal
itself, before the astonished eyes of the spectators, among rivers, pristine forests
and blue mountain lakes. Contemplate the wonders of the Ampezzo Basin, in
the upper Boite Valley, suspended between the imposing beauty of Tofane, of
Pomagagnon, of the Cristallo and Faloria, is certainly the gateway to
understanding those secrets, so jealously guarded, that only nature can reveal.

antichi saperi. A Cortina, laboratorio d'idee, fucina
standard qualitativi estremamente elevati. Sculture
e mobili in legno, impreziositi con minuziose
tecniche d'intarsio e musiva, stufe in maiolica, oggetti in vetro, rame e ferro.
CURTAIN: THE JEWEL OF THE ANCIENT MISTERIES.
Art, design, craftsmanship but also ecological design, innovation and automation.
The territory of Cortina has always been a forge and workshop of ideas, home to
artists who have chosen to leave at high altitude a tangible sign of their presence.
Distant traditions carved in the wood, expert craftsmen imprinted on fabric, glass
and porcelain, is the territory of Cortina, with its many shops, to keep intact all
the charm and artistry of ancient knowledge. In Cortina, a laboratory of ideas, a
forge of tales are made by hand works with an extremely high quality standards.
Sculptures and wood furniture, embellished with detailed techniques of inlay and
mosaic, tiled stoves, objects in glass, copper and iron. No wonder that according
to an ancient legend, as reported by the Austrian anthropologist and journalist
Karl Felix Wolff, "an inhabitant of Cortina once made a sword of such elasticity
that it could bend and tie and then straight back." From the distinctive design of
Toulà with their Buje, the stue with carved ceilings, decorated lintels and precious
chests,to the innovation and the protection of the region through the most
technological challenges of the future: research, ecological design, energy savings
and home automation. Architects, designers and artists have chosen to leave over
the years, at high altitude, a tangible sign of their presence as the famous Edward
Gellner and his architecture from the immense historical and cultural value, from
the characteristic houses, scattered in the Ampezzo territory, to the Palace of Post
and Telecommunications.

“Cortina Cube”, Mietres – Cristallo – Faloria e Cinque Torri – Col Gallina –
SENSORY EXPERIENCES AT HIGH ALTITUDE.
Cableways, ski lifts and charming courses of descent: in Cortina d'Ampezzo
skiing is a sensory experience, between breathtaking views and "Slow-Ski".
The world fame of Cortina d'Ampezzo is mainly due to its courses and ski
slopes, the latter among the most fascinating, challenging and scenic of the
Dolomites. Thirteen ski tows, more than twenty chair lifts, available for lovers
of sports at high altitude. The trails, more than eighty ski slopes, are
concentrated in the area of Tofane and in the district of "Cortina Cube",
Mietres - Cristallo - Faloria and Cinque Torri - Col Gallina - Lagazuoi, divided
in green, blue, red and black depending on the difficulty. The trails, fifty-eight
kilometers in total, are located mainly in Fiames and on the so-called Ciclabile
