CALENDAR OF EVENTS Term 2, 2019
Dear Parents & Carers,
Welcome to Term 2. I trust that everyone had a great Easter spent with family and friends.
I would like to commence this term with a heart felt thanks for all the staff, specifically Mrs Sarah Klippel and Mrs Chrissie McKimmie
for stepping into the Acting Principal position. Along with Mrs Gail Spink and Mrs Jose Miller, they have worked tirelessly, going well
above and beyond, to ensure all tasks and implementation plans were completed and put in place. As this was unannounced and without
warning, due to my sudden illness, they have had to sacrifice their personal time and have had added pressure on family commitments. I
thank them, and all staff that have supported the college in continuing such great work.
Being eager to come back to the college, I have commenced a gradual return this term and therefore Sarah Klippel and Chrissie
McKimmie will continue the Acting Principal role for a further 5 weeks. Once again, I thank them for this commitment.
This term, we are very happy to announce the appointment of the new Corryong College Assistant Principal; Mr
Nigel Adkin. Mr Adkin has made the move to our community from Cranbourne Secondary College. With over 20
years of experience in education and many years in leadership, we welcome him into the role of wellbeing and the
continued support of students, parents and staff. Mr Adkin has already visited most classrooms to introduce himself
to our students and already showing that a good rapport will be built as he commences the role. Mr Adkin was an
Elite professional runner and therefore you may see him running, cycling, or playing golf out of school hours. His
family; wife Myff, and two children; son Soren (Year 8) and daughter Katya (Year 11), will be visiting on the
occasional weekend. Please join us in making Mr Nigel Adkin and his family welcome in our beautiful
community.
Thank you in advance for our students and staff who will participate in the ANZAC ceremonies. This is a highly important day for us
all to be part of, show our respects and join together in remembrance for all those “who served and died in all wars, conflicts, and
peacekeeping operations” and “the contribution and suffering of all those who served”. Lest we forget.
Looking forward to a great term ahead,
Fran Heath
College Principal
