the authors and professionals involved in the creation of the Corrodere training programme have recognised the need to promote professionalism within the coatings industry through an accessible and comprehensive range of courses.

In collaboration with ICorr, BCF and the university of Portsmouth the course offers qualifi cations recognised internationally throughout the coatings industry.

this training programme allows you to decide when and how long you want to study. If you travel you can access the course online to help you make good use of your travelling time.

One of the most benefi cial factors to online training is that you can apply your learning immediately. as the course progresses you can apply the knowledge, skills and expertise gained, to your work.

Corrodere are also grateful to our course partners and thank them for the great support and interest they have shown us throughout the production of this online course. the quality and diversity of our partners refl ects the wide appeal of the syllabus and how pertinent it is to this expanding and important industry.

ICorr - the Institute of Corrosion is a Learned Society and registered Charity that has been serving the corrosion science, technology and engineering community since 1959 in the fi ght against corrosion.

the aim of the Institute is to ensure that the highest principles are set to meet the regulatory requirements, not only of member companies but also their clients and specifi ers. this provides assurance of quality inspection on an international scale to the necessary standards.

BCF – British Coatings Federation provides a forum for coatings and wallcovering manufacturers to discuss issues and agree industry priorities and positions on commercial and regulatory matters. It also encourages ‘industry best practice’, through the establishment of voluntary standards, monitoring and anticipating legislative developments, focusing on the coatings and wallcoverings industry.

Supported by ICorr and the BCF, Corrodere have created a Diploma for students who want to further their education in coatings and corrosion control. Observing a requirement within the industry for professionals who want to learn more about coatings than is currently available, Corrodere have managed to reach this expectation by providing through existing training courses a Diploma recognised by the university of Portsmouth. Whilst this Diploma is not accredited by the university of Portsmouth it could be used as part of an accredited Prior Learning Portfolio to gain advanced standing in a Batchelors or Masters degree at the university of Portsmouth.

all students will have access to the online Corrodere training course and be expected to pass the theoretical assessment. On completion of this part of the course you will be asked to choose 6 of the 12 specialist subjects listed below. It is a requirement to research each subject thoroughly and produce a 2,500–3,000 word assignment, answering a set essay question stated within each subject. assignments are to be submitted to the subject tutor via email. It would be expected that the essays show a greater depth of knowledge than that obtained from the on-line training. reading lists will be made available

Once you have completed 6 assignments you will then be expected to sit a 3 hour exam consisting of multi choice and essay questions.

Students already qualified as a coatings inspector will be given access to the online training but are not expected to complete the online and theoretical assessments prior to studying the specialist subjects.
