1. INTRODUCTION

In today’s diverse business environments, implementing an effective infrastructure is impossible without state-

of-the-art storage systems. Dynamic business needs require a well organized, flexible IT structure that matches

the objectives of the business and supports fast time-to-market for new services, IT personnel competency and

easy to use smart management tools.

System/storage administrators of most of today’s e terprises spend a lot of time performing simple storage management tasks like operations with existing configurations or creating the new ones. Large companies have

daily disk maintenance and, in some cases, need to keep a team of storage managers. In such environments,

performance tuning tasks along with standard storage management become a very difficult operation.

Correlata Solutions Ltd (CORRELATA) offers a cost effective tool for storage service providers, integrators and

customers who have a large quantity of disk storage investments and space.

Correlata VNX/Clariion Mapper has been designed to provide automatic storage mapping using an OS, storage

vendor standard CLI commands and a smart parsing algorithm in the online or offline mode. It checks storage

configuration and provides the following functions:

Adding VNX/Clariion to the database

Creating map building requests for one or several VNX/Clariion boxes

VNX/Clariion map building

Review of previously created maps

Correlata Clariiion Mapper is a based on a SaaS service license.

Map building is allowed only for VNX/Clariions listed in the SaaS service licence.

2. INSTALLATION

The installation program is a standard Window based installer.

In order to properly install CORRELATA VNX/Clariion Mapper software, please perform the following steps:

1. Create a VNX/Clariion Mapper output directory

2. Run VNXMapSetup.exe

3. Choose the home directory for software installation. The name of the directory should not contain

spaces.

4. Windows 8 users and up, need to update Compatability mode @ Properties

Note: Working in ONLINE mode requires network access for each requested EMC VNXClariion box.

3. GETTING STARTED

3.1. Run the program

To run the program:

Start –> Programs –> VNX MAPPER -> VNXMap.exe

A new window will appear:

3.2. General Tools option

To create a new map or review previously created maps, click on Ge eral Tools . This will provide access to

the following two functions:

Build Report - to create a new map (or several maps)

Vie Report - to review the new / old map

3.3. Build Report ONLINE option

3.3.1. Before Starting

At first use, no VNX/clariion box is registered in the system

3.3.2. Add new VNX/Clariion

To add a storage box click on Add VNX a d i sert required information in the appropriate fields of the

form (upper row)

Note: VNXList.ini file, located in the software home directory, contains a list of managed VNX/Clariion boxes

Password encryption is performed at the end of information update process, he Add’s clicked.

3.3.3. Edit VNX/Clariion information

To edit VNX/Clariion parameters or remove unnecessary information, select the relevant storage and click

on Edit or Delete (to remove).

When data modification is complete, save the changes by clicking on “a e .

3.3.4. Build Report

To create a VNX/Clariion map use the Report Builder optio .

Select the required VNX/Clariion box in the left window to automatically move it to the selected list in the

right window. To remove the array from the selected list, just click on it in the right window.

Click on “ave & Run to build the maps.

To save the selected list of arrays without building a map, click on “a e .

3.3.5. View Report

At the end of the building process, the following screen will appear:

To view the map, please double-click on it.

To view previously created maps, select Vie Report .

A map can be selected by the VNX/Clariion Serial number and the map creation date.

3.4. OFFLINE working mode

3.4.1. Create Report

Correlata VNX (Clariion) Disk Mapper has an offline working mode.

To work offline, please run the following command in the command line:

naviseccli -h <IP of SPA> -User <user> -Password <password> -scope 0 getall >c:\<OUTPUT_DIR>\<IP of SPA>_getall.txt

naviseccli -h <IP of SPA> -User <user> -Password <password> -scope 0 metalun -list > c:\<OUTPUT_DIR>\<IP of SPA>_metalun.

Where:

<IP of SPA> - IP address of VNX Service Processor (could be SP_B instead of SP_A)

<user> - VNX administrator user name

<password> - VNX administrator password

<OUTPUT_DIR> - directory for the command output
