NHK ITEC is branching out into wide-ranging consultancy services in Asia, Africa, Oceania, and Latin America through Ocial Development Assistance (ODA) and United Nations (UN) Assistance.

NHK ITEC has developed an EWBS reception module for the ISDB-T broadcasting standard based on a follow-up survey on ISDB-T diusion contracted with the Japanese government. NHK ITEC is taking part in DiBEG activities to research and demonstrate the module in countries that have adopted ISDB-T. The EWBS module has already earned an ace-high reputation as an advance notication tool to reduce damage by natural disasters.

The EWBS reception module is built into home TV sets and public displays. When the module receives an EWBS message, it outputs superimposed text signals and control signals for device power and sound.

Passive Relay Optical Transmission SystemA passive relay device that can optically modulate received broadcast waves and transmit them to transmission points in terrestrial broadcasting networks. By keeping the interval between receiver and the transmitter apart at the relay transmitting station, we can suppress the wraparound of radio waves and construct highly reliable broadcasting relay networks.

Digital Signage SystemDigital signage system with a compact display device capable of displaying any text (NHK news, emergency earthquake bulletins, tsunami warning/caution, etc.) through the Internet. Compatible in English, Spanish, Portuguese, Chinese, and Korean.

Statutory Recording DeviceArticle 5 of the Broadcast Law in Japan stipulates that broadcasters must preserve all broadcast content continuously for three months after broadcast. We developed a statutory recording device enabling the preservation of up to two transport stream signals including video, audio, data, and EPG.

VOD SystemIn combination with VOD system, our statutory recording device can deliver the preserved content by VOD streaming.

Mobile Wireless Transmission SystemBy developing an encoder with a control function linked to uctuating transmission rates in the 5 GHz band Wi-Fi network, we have developed a stable wireless transmission tool using OB-VANs, etc. at low cost.(Jointly developed with Explorer Inc. through joint research with NHK Science & Technology Research Laboratory)
