Developing the Business Case

• Market Overview:• The travel business had been an offline business till the advent

of online portals such as MakeMyTrip, Indiatimes, Cleartrip & Yatra amongst others. These portals created a boom for the online travel retail business by empowering the end consumer. However in this process a key element of the travel business, the travel agent, got marginalized.

• The Business Case:• Having identified the opportunity, Tekriti got involved in series

market research activities involving the Airlines, the agents and the end consumers. This helped evolve a robust business plan.


Development

• User Studies:• Tekriti studied the user behavior closely by interacting with

travel agents directly.

• The focus was not only to provide a module enabling the transaction but also to add features ensuring customer delight.

• Product Specifications:• Based on the above user studies product specifications were

developed for:– Enabling Transaction: The entire workflow from sources the details from the

GDS to the final payment was detailed and executed.– Customer Delight: Features such as managing bank accounts, sales reports,

ledgers were also added


Results

• 15 months of smooth operations.

• 1500 active agents registered.

• 2500 + transactions everyday.

• Revenues much higher than those made by any other player within 1st year of operations.
