Foul Water Drainage System. MH4 Interceptor d/stream to Property Boundary. The drain is constructed from 100mm diameter clay & the depth of Interceptor manhole MH4 is 1.03mtrs. The CCTV survey was conducted from Interceptor manhole MH4 downstream to the property boundary which is located at approximately 8.90mtrs downstream from the manhole. Root ingress is evident throughout the drain & also within Interceptor manhole MH4, the drain is also cracked at 1.50mtrs & fractured at 3.40mtrs downstream from manhole MH4, beyond the property boundary the drain becomes the responsibility of the local water authority South West Water. Recommendations. We advise the Interceptor Trap is excavated & removed to provide access to remove the root ingress & High Pressure Water Jet clean the drain prior to the installation of a 100mm diameter silicate resin liner from manhole MH4 downstream to the property boundary for a distance of approximately 8.90mtrs to prevent further root ingress.

Dear Mrs. Sample As requested we have attended the above property following the unblocking of the foul water drainage system & have facilitated a CCTV survey of the main foul water drainage system within the area of the blockage also within the property boundary & outline our findings below. MH3 d/stream to MH4. The drain is constructed from 100mm diameter clay & the depth of manhole MH3 is 0.66mtrs. The CCTV survey was conducted from manhole MH3 downstream to Interceptor manhole MH4. Severe root ingress is evident throughout the section of 100mm diameter clay drain & also within manhole MH3. Recommendations. We advise the root ingress is removed from the drain & manhole, the drain is High Pressure Water Jet cleaned prior to the installation of a 100mm diameter polyester resin liner from manhole MH3 downstream to manhole MH4 for a distance of approximately 23.60mtrs to prevent further root ingress. Repair Methods. We have advised the above type of lining repairs as we consider them to be the most cost effective which alleviates the requirement for extensive excavation & replacement, this type of trench less repair will also avoid damage to mature gardens & surface areas.

Cause of Damage. The damage to the above sections of 100mm diameter clay foul water drain have been caused by root ingress growing through the joints of the drain from the trees which are located within the vicinity of the drainage system.

Quotation. MH4 Interceptor d/stream to Property Boundary. Excavate, remove interceptor Trap & replace with straight section of 110mm diameter plastic pipe, surround new pipe with pea gravel £ Remove root ingress & High Pressure Water Jet clean drain prior to installation of lining repair £ Install a 100mm diameter polyester resin liner from manhole MH4 d/stream to property boundary for a distance of approximately 8.90mtrs £ Repair sides of manhole where roots have ingressed £

The costs to facilitate the above work is inclusive of all labour, materials & for the disposal of excess spoil from site on completion of the remedial repairs.
