across• Flowers are not stalked• Fruit fall red
• Fruit is not smooth as in Cornus florida• Cornus kousa fruit is red and resembles
a rasberry, ½ diameter• Bark on trunk exfoliates• Cornus kousa has brown flower buds
that are very pointed• Leaf is more pointed than Cornus florida• Leaf tends to “leather” texture• Veins are almost all opposite at midrib
of leaf• With age branches become very
