Life
• You can live your life without it being violated unless you threaten the life of another person.
Examples of Life
• Soldiers and police officers keep our lives safe.
Liberty
• Free to make your own choices with speech, religion, and allows you to express your opinions in public.
Examples of Liberty
• You are able to express yourself freely about the government.
• “A new Nation conceived in Liberty”- Gettysburg Address
Pursuit of Happiness
• You are able to follow your own dreams and achieve your own goals as long as you don't interfere other people dreams and goals.
Examples of the Pursuit of Happiness
• You can do what you want as long as you don’t mess with anyone else.
Common Good
• Working together to help everyone.
Examples of Common Good
• Citizens work together to clean up the community.
• All for one, one for all.
Justice
• Everyone must be treated fairly, no one person or group is favored.
Example of Justice
• The judge listens to each person’s case, and treats them with equal fairness.
• “To form a more perfect Union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility.”- Preamble of U.S Constitution.
Equality
• Everyone has the same treatment no matter the race, sex, religion, or economic position. Everyone has the right to Political, Legal, Social, and Economic Equality.
Examples of Equality
• No matter who you are, you have equal rights to use public facilities.
• “Men are born and will remain free and equal in rights.”- Declaration of Independence.
Diversity
• The variety of cultures are celebrated in America as strengths.
Examples of Diversity
• Jewish, Christian, Muslim, African, American, Asian, European, you can celebrate who you are.
Truth
• The government and it’s people shouldn't lie, nor should anyone else.
Examples of Truth
• “I shall not tell a lie.”-George Washington
• The government cannot lie about the war.
Popular Sovereignty
• The power of the people. The people control the government.
Example of Popular Sovereignty
• You vote for the next President, NOT the government.
Patriotism
• To show love and support to your country.
Examples of Patriotism
• After 9-11 more people started hanging American flags in their yard.
