Northern Haulage & Diesel Services (NHDS) are an award winning

Earthmoving and Labour Hire Contractor. A family owned operation, 100%

Indigenous owned and managed.

We supply Heavy Equipment and Machinery and experienced personnel

to suit Project solutions for both the Mining and Civil sectors. Rio Tinto is one

of our biggest clients. We’re also the only indigenous contractor in the Cape

York region who provides a hydraulic hose and fitting solution, 24/7. We

operate as an exclusive stockist for multi‐national hydraulic hose specialist,

Hydraulink, and our qualified Hydraulic Hose Field Specialist is on‐call to

respond to emergency hose repairs.

We have a fully equipped Heavy Equipment Maintenance Workshop. This

means our equipment is maintained to OEM specs and a continuous

improvement Maintenance program is in place. Our qualified Diesel Fitters

perform well adapted maintenance procedures to help reduce the risk of

breakdowns onsite and ensure your projects are completed on time.

Our commitment to Occupational Health and Safety standards is a driving

force in our day to day operations. With this in mind, all of our employees

undergo inductions, drug and alcohol testing and are trained on how to

properly manage their exposure to risk and their responsibilities towards

others.

Councils and businesses in the Cape York region, our innovative team aim to

Northern Haulage & Diesel Services specialise in Earthworks, Diesel Fitting and Maintenance services. As time has progressed, the business has now diversified into the areas of Labour hire, Plant hire, Environmental services, Training and Mentoring (with an emphasis on work/life skills training and retention of staff). PRODUCTS AND SERVICES

Mining & Civil Works – inc Gravel haulage (pre‐

washed sand, fill dirt , topsoil, bedding materials,

crusher fines, boulders‐various sizes)

Operate as the only Hydraulink Outlet for the

Cape York region. We perform hydraulic hose

repairs and hose fittings needed on any Heavy

Equipment Machinery, Trucks and Light Vehicles.

Our qualified hydraulic hose Specialist is available on‐call, 24/7 for local businesses, including Rio Tinto.

Plant Hire. We can supply a small Fleet of Trucks and Earthmoving Equipment, both large and small, no

matter the length of your Project.

Labour Hire to the Mining and Civil sector, includes the supply 0f Heavy Equipment Operators, Truck Drivers,

Diesel Fitters and Seed Specialists. All Personnel undergo medical testing including drug & alcohol screenings,

licence/certification validation and site inductions.

Field Service Technicians are fully qualified Heavy Vehicle Mechanics. Can provide Roadside assistance or

provide onsite repairs and maintenance to Heavy Machinery at Mine site locations or any location in the

Weipa region, at any time.

Onsite, we have a fully equipped Heavy Equipment Maintenance Workshop with a highly‐skilled and

experienced team of Diesel Fitters and Mechanics. Each member of the team having more than 20 year’s

post‐trade experience in the mining and civil industries.

In addition, our Light Vehicle Maintenance Team have professional and qualified technicians who provide

onsite or in‐house servicing to all major makes and models of 4WD and light commercial vehicles. They are

also equipped to perform Auto Electrical, Air‐Conditioning and Suspension repairs.

Northern Haulage & Diesel Services Workshop Management and staff have extensive experience and

a diversified skill‐set and have the ability to perform with the competencies to co‐ordinate and forecast the

In‐House Training Model: Mentor individuals to overcome challenges of integrating work, life and

cultural obligations and empower them to confidently formulate their own career paths.

Native Seeds Collections Program: We support programs for continued research and rehabilitation of

mined resources. Our Seed team collect and research native plant species and seeds in the Cape York

area with heavy involvement of Community members from our local indigenous communities.

Mobile Lighting Plant Improvement Handle

A custom‐built tool designed and fabricated for our Mobile Lighting Plant (pictured). We won the

"Contractor Innovation Award" Category during the Rio Tinto HSE Innovations Awards Ceremony held in

October 2015. These awards recognise the ingenuity behind these designs and that we place value on

Health and Safety improvements in the workplace.

Preferred Value of Work per Job

NHDS preferred contracts are between $150,000 and $5m, however no job is too small with NHDS also delivering on smaller sized projects for clients.

Delivery performance and reliability Northern Haulage & Diesel Services have established strong business partnerships in the Cape

York region, have a proven track record in maintaining a high safety standard and delivering quality

services meeting all the customer’s requirements.

As a result, in early 2015, Rio Tinto renewed all current contracts with NHDS. NHDS has recently

requalified and continues as preferred supplier to Rio Tinto Weipa for Equipment and Labour Hire.

Our versatility in services we offer, along with our competitive quotes, has also made us preferred

supplier to Wallis Drilling, a nationally known drilling company.

MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS

Safety Management System

Northern Haulage & Diesel Services are committed to creating and maintaining a safe and

healthy working environment and have a well‐developed Health and Safety Management System. Our

safety documentation is published internally using MS SharePoint and our Health & Safety Policy and

Procedures are implemented by our onsite Workplace, Health & Safety Officer. Our Induction process

has also been streamlined, with NHDS conducting Drug & Alcohol testing internally, having had our

Workplace, Health & Safety Officer trained, qualified and authorised by Rio Tinto to carry out the

testing.

Quality Assurance System

Northern Haulage & Diesel Services utilise ISO 9000 standards and policies as a guideline to

give priority to customer focus, to produce quality systems and to assist our teams to achieve our

business objectives as well as that of our client’s. Our electronic Document Management system also

ensures that electronic records are created, managed and backed up on a regular basis. This system

allows for information accessibility, business enhancement and improvement. It also protects the

rights and interests of the organisation, our teams and our clients.

Environment Management System

Northern Haulage & Diesel Services have

implemented an Environmental Policy that aims to cover

environmental concerns and impacts, as defined in

Environment Protection Act 1994. This includes

environmental protection, waste management, recycling,

energy conservation, heritage protection and

aestheticism. ISO 14000 standards and policies have been

used as guiding tools for policy development. Our

Environmental policy and related documentation and

critical contacts for any environmental impacts are also

published electronically on our intranet.

Risk Management Approach

Northern Haulage & Diesel Services carefully prepare and monitor risk management plans

and strategies for each individual project. We have a Health & Safety Management system where our

teams are trained to prepare, identify, manage and control risk by implementing systems such as Safe

Work Procedures, Safe Work Instructions, Job Safety & Environmental Analysis, Hazard Surveys and

Control Practices. These are performed before a task is undertaken. Our Heavy Equipment is also

monitored under a Scheduled Maintenance Program where machines are serviced to OEM

specifications.
