I was a lucky kid. My mother wrote and illustrated childrea•s books

and always encouraged me to use my imagination. For years we had a

weekly date at the library and we'd take out the maximum number

of books every time. Once I learned to read on my own, I was always

in the middle of at least two or three books. My absolute favorites

were scary stories and amazing adventures.

It seems like these days kids spend a lot of time watching TV and

playing video games, but not nearly as much reading and being

creative. I wanted to write a collection of songs that celebrate the

joys of settling in with a great book or inventing your own original

story.

My hope is that these songs will encourage kids and their parents to

read to each other, to make up stories together and to go visit that

incredible place right around the corner where everything is 100%

free (the library!).
