What are Stem Cells ???
“Stem cells have the remarkable potential to develop into many different cell
types in the body during early life and growth.”

What is COPD ???
COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease) refers to chronic
bronchitis and emphysema, a pair of two commonly co-existing diseases of the
lungs in which the airways become narrowed. This leads to a limitation of the
flow of air to and from the lungs causing shortness of breath. In contrast to
asthma, the limitation of airflow is poorly reversible and usually gets
progressively worse over time.

OP
D Mild COPD (stage 1)
Usually, but not always, a chronic cough that often brings up mucus from the lungsLung function FEV1 of 80% of normal or higher
Moderate COPD (stage 2)Chronic cough with a lot of mucusShortness of breath, especially with exerciseAn occasional COPD flare-upLung function FEV1 of 50% to 79%
Severe COPD (stage 3)Chronic cough with a lot of mucusShortness of breathFatigue and a reduced ability to exerciseRepeated and sometimes severe COPD flare-upsLung function FEV1 of 30% to 49%
Very severe COPD (stage 4)Chronic cough with a lot of mucusSevere shortness of breathWeight lossBlue skin color, especially in the lips, fingers, and toes (called cyanosis)Fluid buildup in the legs and feet (called edema)Life-threatening COPD flare-upsLung function FEV1 of less than 30%, or of less than 50% along with chronic respiratory failure (a condition caused by carbon dioxide that stays in the lungs)
Advancells Treatment for COPDStep 1
Bone Marrow CollectionStep 2
Laboratory ProcessingStep 3
Stem Cell Implantation
• The collection of bone marrow is done from the hip bone (iliac crest) of the patient by using a thin needle to mini-puncture the skin under local
anesthesia.
• The stem cells from the collected bone marrow are evaluated to measure their strength and vitality in our
government-approved (cGMP),ultramodern laboratory.
• The next step is implantation of stem cells in the target area of the patient either by angiography or
intrathecal if angiography is unadvisable due to certain medical complexities of the patient. We
resort to local anesthesia to perform “Angiography”.

•Decrease in levels of circulating C-reactive protein (CRP) was observed in patients treated with MSCs who had elevated CRP levels .
Case Example
(Pre Stem Cell treatment symptoms)
Name of Patient : Frank Wade
He was taken ill with pneumonia in June 2009 and while in hospital he was diagnosed with COPD but he had had breathing problems since 2008 and this was being looked into by his doctor.
He gradually became more breathless and found it very hard to climb the stairs. He was exhausted when he did that.
He was very out of breath and weak and gradually became unable to carry out normal day to day activities. He couldn't do any gardening, cooking or decorating, he wasn't well enough to go on holiday.
He used to sit in a chair doing very little. He wasn't able to shower without any assistance. He seldom left his home.
Post Stem Cells Treatment
Name of Patient : Frank Wade
Since the stem cell treatment he have stopped using the inhalers which he used twice a day. He can now go on short walks.
He can also go out with his friends and his breathing is so much improved. He has even felt able recently to cook a meal which he has not done in over a year.
Now currently he is receiving physiotherapy at his local hospital for osteo-arthritis in his back and undertaking an exercise program on a static bike.
The physiotherapist is amazed at how well he is doing for someone with COPD. He also had his SATS taken recently and they were 98, a great improvement.
