MONDAYS 7:00 P.M.

In this November Issue of Lion’s Roar Magazine, we are excited to offer Praise-Giving for God’s great blessings, highlight our young people and focus on issues that concern them.

The simple truth is that the City of Praise Church Ministries is vibrant and active because we have a thriving community of young people who boldly without shame share their passion and love for Jesus Christ.

We are also excited to have a feature article from Keno Lucas, II a Christian Youth Entrepreneur

If there is one thing that we seasoned believers can take away from the stories and experiences of our youth, it is this: When we are too tired to carry on, the City of Praise Church Ministries will be in capable hands.

God Bless,

PASTOR & FIRST LADY

It is not widely report-ed in the news, but the recession hit teens hard. Teen unemploy-ment is well into the double digits.

Teens may be discour-aged that typical part-time jobs (like flipping burgers or working at the mall) are not avail-able because unem-ployed adults have to

take them. However, I see it as a great oppor-tunity for teens to be creative and test their entrepreneurial spirit. There are tons of busi-nesses that kids can start on their own to make up for the shortage of jobs. I suggest creating your business around things you enjoy doing. If you like being outside, you may want to start a lawn service or dog walking business. If you are a computer whiz, try starting a graphic design or web design company.

loved my creations. So the next logical thing to do was to sell my work. And today, eight years later, http://www.coolkeno.com is my own business and an online store that brings in money for me to spend or save.

Because I come from a long line of entrepre-neurs, going into business for myself made sense. But even if I didn’t have parents and other adults who were business owners, I think I would still want to have my own busi-ness. Working for other people, they set your hours and your pay. Working for myself, I can work when I want to and the money I make is directly related to the energy I put into my business.

The number of teens without jobs doesn’t have to be a bad thing. I hope that it will help teens want to start their own businesses.

The Art of Test Taking

One thing that students the world over have in common is the fact that at some point in their aca-demic life, they will be required to take tests. The most successful students have mastered the art of test taking. Whether preparing for the SAT, ACT or a regular test given by the teacher, there are a few things that all students can do to master the art of test taking.

1. Get a good night’s sleep.2. Eat a healthy breakfast.3. Arrive early so that you won’t be rushed during the test and you will be able to listen to last minute instructions from the proctor.4. Read all directions before diving in to answer questions.5. Don’t get discouraged if you don’t feel you are doing well. Maintain a positive attitude.

City of Praise-Giving

City  of  Praise-Giving

This is an exciting time for the City of Praise Family Ministries. With the grow-ing number of individuals and families being destroyed by the disease of addic-

tion, it is critical as the Body of Christ that we as a church family provide resources for deliv-erance and support to meet this demand.

This ministry is seeking people to help organize and participate as facilitators. If you are inter-ested in becoming trained to be a counselor as a part of this dynamic move of God to heal the hurting, please contact Minister Donald Ross at 202-396-2204 or the church office at 301-267-7760.

Philippians 1:19 ...for I know that through your prayers and God’s provision of the Spirit of Jesus Christ what has happened to me will turn out for my deliverance.

CELEBRATE RECOVERY

Coming Soon To The City of Praise Family Church

Lives are chang-

people have gone through the

Celebrate Recovery pro-gram in more than 17,000 churches worldwide.

Celebrate Recovery is a program designed to help those struggling with hurts, hang-ups, and habits by showing them the loving power of Jesus Christ through the recovery process.

Americans associate the month of November with “Thanksgiving”. Because of all the planning and preparation, we sometimes lose focus on the “true” meaning of the word.

In the Bible, Psalm 100 known as “A Psalm for Giving Thanks,” provides the best description of this season. In the beginning of the scripture it says to Shout. What better way to show the Lord we are excited and thankful for all that he has done than

shouting out praises.

Not just in November, but every day of the week, take time to shout out with “Praise-Giving.” Every day we have so much to be thankful for because of God’s blessings on our lives. There are no small or large blessings.

Share your Praise-Giving on our Facebook page or on First Lady Ylawnda Peebles’ blog, http://www.ylawndapeebles.wordpress.com.

Praise-Giving from Psalm 100: 1 -51 Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth.2 Worship the Lord with gladness; come before him with joyful songs.3 Know that the Lord is God. It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.4 Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name.5 For the Lord is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations.

CITY OF PRAISE-GIVING

After our 17 year-old son had been accused and arrest-ed of a heinous crime (assault with a deadly weapon) that he did NOT commit, six months later before the end of September 2012 and after much fasting, pray-ing, and trusting God, the charges were dropped and his good name cleared. Thank you Jesus for hearing

Think It Not Strange

7 - Lion’s Roar

The year 2012 is coming to com-pletion, and many of us have truly been through some chal-lenges – personal, health, finan-

cial, loss of loved ones, and more. We have looked to God for answers to our questions and are still holding on for the fruition of His promises, try-ing desperately to trust in His timing.

He said that without faith it is impos-sible to please Him. But He never promised that the faith walk would always be an easy one. In fact some-times it is so hard to look beyond what we see in the natural when it doesn’t even look close to what He has prom-ised us. We want to get busy and fix

But saints, we are actually in a good place, because this is the place of preparation. This is where we learn to depend totally on Him. We always say we trust Him, but that is when we have secure jobs, money in the bank, strong healthy bodies and good friends. But it is not until these are gone and there is no way out and nobody can fix it BUT GOD that we learn to truly and totally trust Him.

Just as fire refines silver, trials refine our character, bring us wisdom, and a closer walk with God. When all is well we sometimes put Him on the back burner. But in the fire we remember Him again. We call on Him in the middle of the night when we can’t sleep. We spend time in prayer and praise. We seek His face early in the morning. We develop a loving bond with Him.

Remember the old pictures of the shepherd tending his flock with the lamb around his neck? In those days, when the shepherd had a lamb who would go its own way rather than follow him, the shep-herd would break the legs of the lamb. Then he would carry the lamb around his neck with him eve-rywhere he went until the legs were healed. Once the legs were healed, the shepherd would release the lamb. However, by that time the lamb had become so used to being constantly with the shepherd that he would never be rebellious again. From that point on He only wanted to follow the shepherd.

God is carrying us, saints, and keeping us through it all. “He has preserved our lives and kept our feet from slipping.” (Psalm 66:9 NIV) Have no fear, saints. Instead, rejoice. We are in the best place we can be for where God is taking us. He is getting us ready for it – a new place of abundance in Him. “For you, O God, tested us; you refined us like silver. You brought us into prison and laid burdens on our backs. You let men ride over our heads; we went through fire and water, but you brought us to a place of abundance.” (Psalm 66:10-12).
