Types Of Cooperative Learning

Formal Groups:Students working together, for one class period to several weeks, to achieve shared learning goals and complete jointly specific tasks and assignments.

Informal Groups: Students work together to achieve a joint learning goal , last from a few minutes to one class period.



Base Groups: are long-term, heterogeneous groups. (a) Provide support.(b) Encouragement.(c) Assistance to progress academically.


Managing group size Cooperative learning works best when group size is smaller. Classroom has about 15 to 20 students. Students are usually grouped in clusters of 3 to 5.
