1943 年於美國康乃迪克州 Waterbury 出生
1968 年取得了南加州大學的學士學位

1972 從 California State Polytechnic University 的教職被開除後, Thom Mayne 旋即成立了南加州建築學校 SCI-Arc 這所被業界及學界視為「另類」的建築學校,成立之初學校僅有七名教職員及四十位學生 .
1972 年,以加州為主要發展地點,在聖塔莫妮卡與夥伴邁可‧羅東尼成立了自己的建築事務所,稱為 Morphosis.
1978 年獲得了哈佛大學設計學院的碩士學位
1974-1994 二十年間 Thom Mayne 接的設計案以當地的民宅、餐廳、辦公大樓及美國以外地區的案子為主(在台灣有日月光藝術中心), 1990 年代因為一系列非傳統建築設計案而使得他獲得第一個國際建築獎。
2005 年, 61 歲的 Mayne 以加州交通運輸局第七區總部 (Caltrans District 7 Headquarters) 的傑出設計獲了普利茲建築獎

• 模弗西斯,奠基在美國加州的事務所, 1972 由湯‧梅恩 (Thom Mayne)與麥可‧羅東尼 (Michael Rotondi , 1991 年離開 ) 所共同成立。
• 模弗西斯希望能夠打破材質、形式的傳統疆界,走出現代主義與後現代主義二元論的設計領域。目前事務所有大約二十位建築師,主要的領導者為梅恩,約翰‧因萊特 (John Enright) 以及金‧葛羅夫 (Kim Groves) 。

the width of the corridors surrounding the atrium allow people to pause in the space, without blocking circulation.

The south-facing skylight brings daylight into the atrium, and the angle of the walls diffuses the light before it enters the circulation space
The operable skylight also improves air flow in the building. This, combined with the light quality, makes the atrium a pleasant space in which to linger.

Most of the glazing is a modular window-wall system, with operable windows in the student spaces and offices. Exposed glass is a curtain wall system.
The operable façade, made of modular, perforated stainless steel panels, is offset from the wall of glazing.
The double-skin façade allows 75% of the regularly occupied spaces to be day-lit, while controlling the amount of heat radiation that enters the building.
The cut-out and the windows on the façade is a response to the more permanent neighbor buildings.
