Type of instruments:• The type of instruments that the artists who base their genre

mainly in the Indie rock section tend to use the same four or five instruments, these are guitar, bass, drums, vocals and piano/keyboard. Sometimes piano/keyboard tends not to be used but it is still a common instrument found in most Indie rock artists. An example of a band that uses these instruments is the Arctic Monkeys as they have all but a pianist in their band.

Sound:• In Indie rock tracks they tend to have a common theme in the

way they sound, most have a relaxed feel to the songs as it really reflects the laid back reputation of the artists and that genre of music. They also seem to start of very instrumental and quiet then usually following up the main riff and lyrical sequence. A great example of this is the band that we are going to make a music video for and also The Kooks, the clip for the music I am going to do is down below in the blog as it is a great example to back up this point.

Lyric themes:

• A lot of the Indie rock songs that I listen to have the same theme and message when you listen carefully to the lyrics, a lot of the songs are based on love or a girl however they aren’t like the romantic songs where they talk about feelings and the stereotypical love lines. Some artist examples that do this are Franz Ferdinand (Take Me Out), The Kooks (She Moves in Her Own Way) and Oasis (Wonderwall).
