Artist’s Name The name of the artist is always the biggest piece of writing on the album cover. The name usually appears either in front or behind the main image of the artist so that the two are shown together. This helps the audience identify the artist without having to look at the main image as some artists are only be recognisable by their name and not their face. On this album cover, the artist’s name, Selena Gomez is horizontal across the album cover, making it the very first thing you see. It is coloured pink which is a conventional colour used within the pop music genre. Main Image The main image always covers the whole of the CD cover. This makes it easy for the audience to identify who the artist is. It can also be used to give the audience an insight in to what the songs on the album will be like. For example, Selena Gomez looks glamourous on her front cover, covered in jewels and wearing shiny clothing. This could tell the audience that the songs on her album will be about her glamourous lifestyle and living luxuriously. Album Name The album name will always be on the front cover of a CD as this is what the album will be known as instead of being known as ‘the 3 rd album by this artist’. The album name is usually in a smaller font than the artist’s name as the album is more likely to be recognisable by the artist’s name, not the name of the album.
