Summery Of A Magazine Advert

their image.

Magazine adverts are made to help spread the knowledge of their album or song/s and sell them. The adverts are usually a full spread page, if the artist is big enough though, such as Beyoncé, they may even get a double page spread. The advert would usually represent the genre, mood and style of the album/songs such as a metal album may have darker colours with grittier images such as possibly the Grim Reaper or guns/bullets etc. or even just the band. A more Pop-like advert would more likely contain brighter colours and showing the artist’s face with their associated colours/theme if the have one. Some adverts may be have complicated designs and patterns on them that are reminiscent of the band whereas others may be simple and made to simply show the band’s music without any kind of cryptic message. This is usually seen with more indie bands though. An advert needs, however, a way to show fans that something that they want is new and is/will be available. This may be using simple large text or a picture of the actual album. They could also use the artist’s face, which is done more than not, helping sell

Analysis Of An Advert:Twenty One PilotsTwenty One Pilots are a band which generally create music with no set genre ranging across their albums, starting with their first ‘Twenty One Pilots’, filled with piano riffs and with much more of a story telling feel to the songs, whereas their latest ‘Blurryface’ has more electronic instruments and sends more of a message. The advert is a great example of sowing their lack of set genre as it is a simple white on white with their name painted on both members. This gives readers an open mind when discovering them as it tells them nothing of their style. The way that the band name moves across both Tyler and Josh highlights that they’re both equal parts of the band. The ‘font’ used for the name shows the band’s style somewhat as it is not neat and gives a small impression to readers about them. The minimalist style picture grabs the readers attention and makes them want to know more about what the article/music is about, especially with the words “It’s Us Against The world” making the readers curious as to why they think that.

How We Can Apply To Our Own

In terms of placement, we could design both a single page or double page spread, either both with the same style or different ways of advertising the album/song. We could use either different styles of up close shots of her/their face/s or try using full body shots with them all together or just the main singer on her own. While thinking of backgrounds, if we want to have a person on the ad, we will have to think about if we want a plain background or have an actual set. If we use a plain background we would probably use a dark or simply black one as our song is semi-depressing.

The song we have chosen is a pop song and contains multiple artists however there is clearly a ‘main focus’ singer, Rihanna, and we could decide to only include our main singer on the advert. We’re planning to have our video start in black and white to help highlight the disparity of the characters in the video, so we have that colour scheme available to use if we wanted to, however we could use colour and show it like an artist like Ellie Goulding’s advert and sell it as if it were part of an album with more tracks on it. If we were to do this, we would more likely choose one colour to use as a main ‘theme’ such as gold, like on Ellie Goulding’s ad, or another colour to use.
