Message From Our Director of EventsGreetings Sisters!

Welcome to Chicago! Get ready, for this year marks our 16th annual Convention. We have defi-nitely grown and achieved much over the years and have great things in store for this weekend. I truly hope you all are very thrilled for what’s to come!

I remember my very first Convention being at Chicago. I was in awe with the city and what was offered. Not only was this a fast paced, hustling and bustling city, but I could just feel the busi-ness atmosphere as soon as I was on DePaul’s campus. Not to mention the amazing cuisine was spectacular as well! When seeing all the chapters for the first time, I knew I was in the right place at the right time. Every sister had traveled from all over to come to this location for the year. Ev-ery convention is a huge reunion where we meet new faces, learn exciting new things and leave with memories that will never be forgotten. I left with the lasting impression that the bonds we develop will never be broken and sisterhood is forever. I hope that the same exact feelings will ignite within each of you as you embark on your journey as undergrads to make a difference in your lives.

At the beginning of holding this position, there was a great stress on reviewing our post evalua-tions from last year and finding solutions for this year’s Convention. Every year, we aim to make Convention better from the feedback that is provided. I would like to thank sisters who have contributed their brilliant ideas on how to make this year’s Convention more organized and for catching the tiny details that can be overlooked. Although I know that we cannot please every-one, I would like you all to know that we have definitely taken everything into consideration in terms of the itinerary, location and events to include more bonding and leisure time to explore Chicago. We strongly encourage all sisters to voice their opinions on how to make things even better for next year in this year’s evaluation.

Lastly, I would like to take a moment to thank our very own Convention Committees. Chair lead-ers, you ladies have been amazing and have gone above and beyond for this year’s plans. Thank you for your patience, understanding and resources you have provided us. From the get go, all of you were organized, professional and such a pleasure to work with. I could not have asked for a better group of women to plan such a great event with and definitely would not have ac-complished as much without you all. Amanda and May, thank you for being there whenever I needed ideas, or even just a second opinion. You ladies always jumped in when I needed your assistance.

Now, Delta Phi Lambda Sorority Inc., are you ready for what’s to come?

Get ready to bring some legacy into the city.

In Everlasting Sisterhood,

Amanda YikDirector of Events

The Greek Legacy: What Will Be Your Legacy?Through a discussion of the issues attacking Greek Life we will look at how together we can ac-complish many things... but only if we work together towards a common goal, like our founders did.

Who is Sam?Sam’s passion for Greek Life has lead him to working with fraternities and sororities across the country. Sam Centellas crossed into Sigma Lambda Beta at Western Michigan University. He was a charter member of his chapter and went on to help start a chapter at Grand Valley State Uni-versity as well while getting his masters degree in College Student Affairs.

Sam has served on the National Board of Directors for Gamma Sigma Alpha in Los Angeles, the Western Region Greek Association in San Francisco, and his own fraternity, Sigma Lambda Beta International Fraternity, Inc. in Iowa City and was a founding Board Member of the National Haz-ing Prevention Organization the organizers of National Hazing Prevention Week.

Sam’s “real” job is Executive Director and CEO of La Casa de Amistad a Latino Youth and Com-munity Center on the West Side of South Bend. He loves working with college students and more importantly fraternities and sororities. He started his own consulting group and travels speaking and working with college students around the country on many topics including haz-ing, risk management, diversity, eating disorders, and membership accountability
