Welcome to ACPA17!

Welcome to Columbus, Ohio, USA! Columbus is a unique city with a variety of options to engage with during your time at convention. This guide is designed to provide information on accessibility relative to your experience at convention. The Membership Engagement Team, in conjunction with the Convention Experience Team and the Coalition for (Dis)Ability, attempted to provide information related to accessibility that attendees should find useful during their time at the ACPA17 Convention. Should you have questions or a need that is not addressed within this guide, please contact the Access Chair for ACPA17. Shuttle Busses Central Ohio Transit Authority (COTA) operates the AirConnect route from CMH to greater Convention Center area. This shuttle is accessible and cost $2.75. For more information go to http://flycolumbus.com/to-from-port-columbus/public-bus-service/

Taxis Taxis are available on demand 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. For information only (No Reservations), call 1-614-239-8294 For information on rates, please go to http://flycolumbus.com/to-from-port-columbus/taxis/ Accessible taxis will service CMH, but do not typically wait at CMH in the taxi line like regular taxis. preferred accessible taxi service. Information on accessible taxi services in the local area can be found in the Ground Transportation section of this guide.

Restrooms CMH provides accessible family style restrooms on the baggage claim level, ticketing level, as well as in Concourses A, B and C. These facilities are designated as accessible and are open to all genders.

Signage Braille signage is on each of the elevators and international symbol designations on all terminal signage. The Flight and Baggage Information Display System monitors are capable of displaying visual paging messages for the benefit of the hearing impaired guests. This paging is also available for passenger and public paging requests.

TTY/TDD Telephone CMH provides a portable TTY/TDD device, located at the Information Booth on the Baggage Claim level.

Ground Transportation to and from LCK There are multiple methods of ground transportation available at LCK.

Rental Cars

Enterprise Rent-A-Car services LCK but does not keep any vehicles at the terminal. Customers must contact Enterprise prior to arrival to arrange pick up and transportation to the southeast Enterprise office location. Enterprise provides this services during the following times: Monday – Friday 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Shuttle Bus As there is only one terminal passengers will utilize at this airport, shuttle services are not provided to the parking areas.

Taxis While there are no standing taxis at LCK, local taxis do service this airport. Please see the Ground Transportation section of this guide for more information on accessible taxi services in the local area.

Restrooms Accessible restrooms are located in both the gate area and on ticketing/baggage claim area next to the ticket counter. All are accessible restrooms are signed and marked appropriately.

This service utilizes vehicles that are equipped with ramps to accommodate standard sized wheelchairs. This service has access to paratransit vans with ramps and straps to secure chair when inside vehicle. They can accommodate larger wheelchairs inside the vehicles but lack the motorized chair lift function. This service has access to paratransit vans with ramps and straps to secure chair when inside vehicle. They can accommodate larger wheelchairs inside the vehicles but lack the motorized chair lift function. This service has access to paratransit vans with ramps and straps to secure chair when inside vehicle. This service has access to 10 paratransit taxis equipped with ramps and motorized lifts to accommodate larger chairs or scooters.

Central Ohio Transit Authority (COTA) Services COTA operates four bus lines throughout the city of Columbus: Local Line, Express Line, Crosstown Line, and CBUS. Each of these lines operate with accessible buses. The CBUS line is the line most relevant to your ACPA17 Convention Experience. This bus line services the immediate area surrounding the ACPA17 Convention. This bus is free to ride. COTA Accessibility The following services are offered by COTA in relation to accessibility:

All fixed-route buses have the capacity to lower themselves to the curb to make boarding easier.

All vehicles have ramps that extend for wheelchairs and other types of mobility devices.

On each bus, stops are announced audibly and displayed on a screen.

Service animals are welcome on all busses.

COTA Paratransit (Mainstream) The COTA Paratransit system is called Mainstream and is available for individuals who cannot ride the existing buses used on current bus routes. COTA Mainstream operates throughout Franklin County, and parts of Delaware, Fairfield, Licking and Union Counties.

Reservations can be made up to seven days prior and at least one day in advance of requested trips. To qualify to use COTA Mainstream, a condition must prevent the applicant from using the fixed-route bus service. To apply for COTA Mainstream, an application must be completed; Part 1 completed by applicant and Part 2 must be completed by a licensed or certified professional who is most familiar with the applicant’s functional limitations. In addition to completing the application, the applicant must also attend an interview/functional assessment with an Eligibility Administrator. A visitor who resides in another jurisdiction and already has paratransit eligibility may request to use COTA Mainstream service. The visitor must provide an eligibility letter from their respective paratransit provider verifying that they have current paratransit eligibility and must show their eligibility expiration date in the letter. The documentation can be mailed to COTA Mobility Services, 1330 Fields Ave., Columbus, OH 43201 or faxed to (614) 272-3018. Rental Cars Multiple rental car proprietors operate in the city. Please visit the list of rental car

proprietors in the “Ground Transportation to and from CMH” and “Ground

Transportation to and from LCK” section of this guide above.

Uber & LYFT While both Uber and Lyft are available in greater Columbus, OH region, neither services

are currently offering guaranteed accessible services. Therefore, the convention

planning team does not recommend the use of Uber or LYFT for those attendees with

significant mobility impairments.

Conference Hotels The ACPA17 Convention will utilize 6 different hotels. Accessibility for each hotel is described in the following sections.

Hyatt Regency Columbus 350 North High Street Columbus, OH, 43215 Phone: 1-614-463-1234 The Hyatt Regency is located adjacent to the Greater Columbus Convention Center. Multiple internal connections to the convention center exist in the Hyatt. This is the closest hotel to the majority of activities taking place at the convention center and the site of several ACPA17 Convention activities. They Hyatt will host several events as part of the ACPA17 Convention.

Building Access The main drop off and entrance point for the Hyatt Regency is located on E. Nationwide

Blvd. This entrance has a double wide, motion sensor automatic doors. All other public

entrances to the building are accessible as well.

The closest bus stop to this facility is located 40 ft. from the main entrance.

Common Areas Accessibility The common areas of the Hyatt have accessible pathways to all important locations and

experiences contained within the hotel. Elevators are available throughout the facility

and open to the public.

Reservation Desk The reservation desk has an accessible check-in/out lane and offers staff who are sign

language proficient. The Hyatt Reservations Director, Erin O’Conner, is proficient in

sign language and has regular hours of 8:30am-5pm, Mon-Fri. If you are arriving

outside of this time frame and need to speak with sign language proficient staff, please

contact the hotel prior to arrival to arrange that service.

Pool and Fitness Areas The hotel includes a pool and fitness center. There is an accessible entrance to both

and the pool is equipped with a chair lift for access to the water.

Business Center The Hyatt features a business center located in the main lobby next to the registration

desk. This facility has an accessible entrance and can accommodate wheelchair users.

Dining Areas This hotel features the Market Stand Café on the second floor. The seating in this area

consists mainly of high backed chairs and high tables. There are very limited

accessible seating options in this venue. The venue does claim to be able to

accommodate wheelchair users.

This restaurant offers a variety of American cuisine. More information on the food

Room Accessibility The Hyatt provides a variety of accessible room options as part of ACPA17’s assigned room block. The following accessible room combinations are available at the Hyatt: 2 rooms containing a king bed, hearing/sound features, and roll-in showers. 4 rooms containing a king bed, hearing/sound features, and a tub. 7 rooms containing 2 double beds, hearing/sound features, and a tub. 2 rooms containing 2 double beds, hearing/sound features, and roll-in showers. 2 Junior Suites (Bed Type? Shower type? Hearing/Sound Features?) . 1 VIP Suites containing fire alarm system including emergency strobe light and strobe-light smoke detector, cordless phone, closed-caption television, lowered closet shelves, lowered thermostat and light switches, lowered entryway features, including peephole, door latch, lowered bathroom features, including door handle, towel hooks, towel rack, wide bathroom doors, bathroom grab bars, raised toilet seat.

Parking Accessible parking is available at the Hyatt. The Hyatt offers hotel valet parking for $26 for overnight guests and $20 for day guests. This includes complimentary in/out privileges. Clearance for the garage is 6'3". There is no additional fee on checkout day.

Hilton Columbus Downtown 401 North High Street Columbus, OH, 43215 Phone: 1-614-384-8600 The Hilton Columbus Downtown is the second closest hotel to the majority of activities taking place at the convention center and the site of several ACPA17 Convention activities. The Hilton is connected to the Convention Center via a skywalk bridge. They Hilton will host several events as part of the ACPA17 Convention.

Greater Columbus Convention Center The Convention Center will be the site of many different Convention activities including

the Opening and Closing Ceremonies, Career Central, and lots of great presentations

from your fellow colleagues. Overall, this facility is ADA compliant.

In regards to Convention Activities, the Convention Steering Team has incorporated

accessibility considerations into all of its planning efforts. If you have any specific

Building Access The Convention Center has multiple points of accessible access. All building entrances

are designated as accessible except the Union Station Ballroom entrance.

The Hyatt is directly connected to the Convention Center by multiple accessible

pathways. The Hilton is connected to the Convention Center via accessible skywalk.

This skywalk empties into the Convention Center near the C Block of rooms. The Drury

is connected via skywalk to the Hyatt. The Crown Plaza is connected via skywalk to the

Hyatt. The Red Roof Plus+ and Renaissance hotels are not directly connected to the

other conference hotels or convention center.
