About Vignan’s Deemed to be University Vignan’s Foundation for Science, Technology and Research Deemed to be University (VFSTR) the flagship institution of the Group offers quality academic programmes, innovative leadership development opportunities. The University strives to make the experience of each student a transformative one. It is NAAC accredited with an ‘A’ grade and NIRF 88 by Govt. of India. Located in a serene suburb of Guntur at Vadlamudi. The University provides a pollution free, clean environment.

Theme of Workshop 20th century has added many aspects for the development and comforts of the mankind throughout the globe while it has also thrown out a good number of challenges to the scientific community of the 21st century. The most challenging is in the area of health and disease control. The end of last century witnessed considerable success over controlling and curing the deadly disease AIDS, but the outbreak of diseases caused by Ebola virus and Zika virus in recent years alerted all governments and scientists about the gaps. The chemists play a crucial role in the development of new sensors/materials for the applications in medicine, electronics, optical, biology, materials for trapping and storing energy (solar), plastic materials with good mechanical properties, and nano materials.

Health sector is the key area for India in terms of huge market potential as users and also as the technology developers. India imports about 75% of biomedical devices every year and it is essential for us as a nation to reduce these numbers of imports by developing the possible device within the country. With make in India initiative by GOI, it was witnessed since last three years that many students have been showing interest to explore the career as entrepreneurs rather than looking for a job in a company. Students from premier institutions like IITs, IISc generally will have an exposure to the state of art technologies and opportunity to participate in such development activities as the faculty will be involved with those activities directly. Second level colleges which are having good faculty and students, if the exposure is given to provide an exposure by eminent people working in the field, either academic or industry will help improving the technical skills and networking with medical colleges and industries, these colleges also shall start making some useful devices for the country. As these colleges are located in the rural areas, it will provide an opportunity to create awareness to the faculty as well as students. A workshop in that direction is proposed with a focus to create an awareness on the devices for bio medical industry, various sensing techniques, packaging of sensors, industry perceptions, device use conditions, qualifications and testing protocols and provides a platform for experts and young researchers from the fields of Physics, Biology and Pharmacy to highlight upon their needs and requirements for suitable materials and the Chemists to understand the issues of researcher from allied subjects and develop strategies for their future research.

Department of Pharmaceutical SciencesProvides a premier professional education program leading to the Bachelor of Pharmacy degree with specialization in various areas of interests, in the field of pharmacy (the first of its kind) and is committed to prepare future pharmacy leaders with essentials to thrive as a successful individual in pharmaceutical sector. It also provides them with the tools necessary to practice in different roles, Develop and maintain research initiatives in the formulation, analysis, clinical, regulatory, management and discovery sciences to implement new knowledge and approaches for enhancing health care.

Patient oriented care and services, the major contribution of the hospital, community and clinical pharmacist is inculcated in all the students. Interdisciplinary activities are encouraged taking the advantage of various specialized departments in the University, mostly the Biomedical Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering and Computer science engineering contribute mostly for such interdepartmental activities and research.

Department also emphasizes the need for collaborative activities to propel the growth of the individual and the community as a whole.
