CONTINUING TO BUILD A BETTER IRELAND
DELL HQ, Citygate
Following the successful completion of the Wexford Bridge project by a JV which included HBG of The Netherlands, Ascon was established in 1958 to undertake civil engineering projects in Ireland.
In 1989 HBG acquired the full ownership of Ascon. The Rohan building company was acquired by Ascon in 1993 and rebranded as Rohcon, to undertake main building contracting.
Royal BAM Group of The Netherlands acquired HBG in 2003. In Europe, Royal BAM Group specialises in construction and property development in The Netherlands, Belgium, Ireland, Germany and the UK and BAM International operates on a worldwide basis. Royal BAM Group is ranked in the top 15 in the league of European contractors.
In 2004 Ascon Property was formed to manage our property development activities.
In 2008 as part of their strategic agenda, BAM Group companies were re-named in order to strengthen and unify the brand. Ascon Contractors was re-named BAM Contractors and its operating companies re-named BAM Building, BAM Civil and BAM Property.
BAM Rail was established in 2009 to undertake specialist rail works and BAM FM was established in 2011.
BAM Contractors continues to be very active in innovative engineering and design, investments, building, financing,
operation and maintenance and international markets. We are working in Northern Ireland, Great Britain and the Middle East and together with BAM Group companies are actively seeking opportunities in expanding sectors and new and emerging markets.
Our PPP completions include the M1 Dundalk Western Bypass, the M7 / M8 Portlaoise Bypass and the M25 Waterford Bypass Motorway schemes. In 2012, BAM signed a schools PPP contract with the NDFA for the design, build, finance and maintenance of eight schools across Ireland. In 2013 BAM signed a PPP contract to design, build, finance, operate and maintain the N7 Newlands Cross free-flow junction and N11 Arklow Rathnew Carriageway. These Irish successes are mirrored across Europe with over 30 operating concessions in sectors such as roads, schools, healthcare, prisons and rail.
BAM Group’s CSR/ Sustainability report has been externally verified and complies with the highest application level GRI 3.1 A+.
We were pronounced sector leader in the Carbon Disclosure Leadership Index. Our Sustainability Report 2011 was ranked sector leader in the leading Dutch sustainability index (Transparency Benchmark) and we were sector leader in the VBDO (Association of Investors for Sustainable Development) Responsible Supply Chain Benchmark.
BAM Group was originally selected for inclusion in the Ethibel EXCELLENCE investment Register in 2009 and its inclusion was confirmed in 2011 and again in 2013.
