Contest Essay For every young adult nowadays, the future presents good possibilities for them and the way that the might want to spend their lifetime. Woodworking has become a choice for us maybe a career, away to make extra money, a hobby or even a trade. Every year around Christmas time the Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) organization raffle’s off playhouses, to earn money to help abandoned and neglected kids to have a voice in court. For our playhouse this past year we decided to build a train instead of a cabin because we wanted to do something different instead of a cabin like everyone usually does. In building this train we prepared by studying all phases of construction and allot of hands on real world work activities. We found safety and teamwork to be the most important. While without teamwork it would be hard to get the project done. Each one of our jobs was like one link in a big chain, each job is just as important as the next. We have also learned that you have to have patience, or you will get very frustrated and maybe not finish your job. During this project we learned how to finance our money, so that we would not go over budget, how to be safe in the woodshop, how to read blueprints, and that you should take pride in what you do, and that close is not good enough do it right, measure twice and cut once. Exploring Technology is a class that will be the beginning of the future for some and just the beginning of everyday life for others.
