Sister Alicia is a member of the Francis- cans of the Eucharist of Chicago, a reli- gious community that carries out mission work at Our Lady of Angeles in Chicago. Sister Alicia is a member of the Francis-cans of the Eucharist of Chicago, a reli-gious community that carries out mission work at Our Lady of Angeles in Chicago. She said she is accustomed to preparing meals for hundreds of people.

The menu comprised of two appetizers, a Mediterranean Avocado Goat Cheese Dip and an Olive Tapenade; a Twisted Greek Salad; and entrée of Mediterranean Grilled Chicken with Roasted Vegetables and Hummus. Dessert was a Greek Yogurt Parfait.

Sister Alicia said she has had no formal training in the culinary arts, but has ex-tensive experience preparing meals for the underprivileged using a variety of donated items.

She told the story of how she came to be on the Food Network show and how her prayers early in the morning of the competition and belief in the Almighty swept away any nervousness or appre-hension.

Attendees of the luncheon were given a card that included the recipes for the various courses.

Although, as Sister Alicia said during her demonstration, each cook must decide on proportions for themselves depending on their tastes and thecharacter of each ingredient.

“I like a lot of garlic.” Sister Alicia told the crowd.

Each attendee also received a special apron to commemorate the event.

CDS President-elect Cheryl Wat-son-Lowry has selected the theme of A Midwinter Marti Gras: Celebrating Inno-vation, Camaraderie & Diversity.

Joining Dr. Watson-Lowry’s team are General Chair Sharon Lyn-Malinowski and Program Chair Susan Zelazo-Smith.

Dr. Watson-Lowry said the theme is a reminder that dental professionals should come to the Midwinter Meeting not only ready to learn but also to have fun.
