Introduction Alfred’s Mini Music Guide Mandolin Chord Dictionary provides the most essential chords and chordal information in a portable, handy size and is loaded with a variety of fingerings for the most important chords in all 12 keys.

Starting on page 22, the chords are listed alphabetically and chromatically for quick reference (Ab, A, Bb, B, etc.). On each page, the chord fingerings are arranged in order from the lowest position on the fingerboard to the highest. Within each key, chords progress from the most basic major and minor chords all the way up to 7ths, 9ths, and even altered chords.

For every chord, there is an illustrated chord diagram with fingerings and note names—see pages 19–20 for an explanation on how to read these.

The first part of this book (pages 5–14) helps you understand intervals and how chords are constructed. Theory on triads, 7th chords, extended chords, altered chords, and other chord types are also included.

The Moveable Chords section (starting on page 214) will maximize your knowledge by showing you how to play 12 different chords with one single fingering. Once you understand basic chord theory and the concept of moveable chords, you can take the chords in this book and use them to fit any performance situation. Mandolin Chord Dictionary provides the foundation for an ever-growing chord vocabulary that can be applied to all musical styles.
