NME NME is a tabloid magazine. It has three main style colours, red, white and black. The text they use is sans serif which is easy to read and doesn't make the page look too formal. Its contents page is very busy and has a lot going on. Its on a white background to avoid distraction to text. Along the top of the page its masthead background is black it says 'NME' in red letters outlined in white this makes the words stand out, next to this in capital letters says 'THIS WEEK' in white. This stands out from the page as its the largest writing. It prompts the reader that there going to get the latest information and news. Its features are divided into sections to help the reader find what they want simply. The sections are highlighted in black with white writing. This has made them easy to find. The articles are listed and are in bold. An extra incite is wrote underneath them in normal text informing the reader of what the articles contain. Next to the article is a page number in red making them easy to find. In the middle of the magazine is the main image of a band 'Kasabian' making this clear that its the main article of the magazine, underneath is also abit about the article on them giving the reader an idea of what the article consist of. The magazine also has a section called 'band index' which is black and bold. This has a list of bands that feature the magazine in red and there page number in black making it easy to find there page. At the bottom of the contents page is an advert advertising subscription for NME. Its in a black background to stand out against the white main background. It also has bright yellow writing which is the only bright yellow on the page.

Q Q contents page is bordered by the black strip across the top of the page. This contains the magazine logo, the words 'contents' printed in capitals and a dateline. The contents background is in white. The main colours of the contents is black, red and white. The page is divided into three sections making it easy for readers to find what they need. The articles are listed in black by the page number in red. Each article has more information wrote underneath in smaller font to inform the reader. An extra section is bordered under the 'features' section called 'Oasis Special' this is in a golden colour. Gold can represent special. The main picture contains a band 'The Courteeners' who are one of the main features in the magazine. Over the picture in a white box to avoid any distraction is their band name, page number and an incite about their article. This is too highlight why the image is there and what its about.

Spin magazine Spin magazine has a logo masthead on the top of the contents page. Its the same as all the 'spin' mastheads. Overlapping quite a lot of the masthead is the main image because we already know what magazine it is and this masthead isn't important. This is the only image on the page. It's a singer called 'Duffy' which has the main article in the magazine. The pose is of her holding up a guitar almost in a 'rock' way representing this issue to be rock and rebellious. To the top right of the main image is a pull quote, this gives an incite of the article. The contents is listed with the heading 'features' in bold and underlined in a blue bold line. All the text is in black apart from the page numbers which are in blue. The band which the feature is about is in bold with a little bit of information underneath in normal text and smaller than the bands name, this is to highlight what the magazine is telling you about these bands and entices you to read it. At the bottom of the page in a blue box is whats on the cover.
