THE GLOBAL WARMING

It is a gradual increase in the average temperature of the planet's surface.

This phenomenon is caused because there are too many greenhouse gases in the atmosphere.

Page 3: contaminacion ambiental

WHAT ARE GREENHOUSE GASES?

Greenhouse gases are those gases that retain solar radiation keeping the atmosphere at a comfortable temperature for life. The problem arises when the amount of these gases increases, disrupting the natural balance.

Page 4: contaminacion ambiental

THE DIFFERENT GREENHOUSE GASES

Water vapor (H2O) NATURALCarbón dioxide (CO2) HUMAN

Methane (CH4) NATURALNitrogen oxides (N2O) HUMAN

Ozone (O3) NATURALChlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) HUMAN

CONSEQUENCES OF GLOBAL WARMING

Climate

in the climate has causes an increase in the average surface temperature of the Earth. due to the increased evaporation of surface water, the magnitude and frequency of rainfall has also increased.

Page 6: contaminacion ambiental

This increase in water evaporation has also produced an increase in the intensity and frequency of thehurricanes and storms.

HealthAn increase in the temperature of the Earth's surface will result in an increase in respiratory and cardiovascular diseases, infectious diseases caused by mosquitoes and pests.

Page 8: contaminacion ambiental

Moreover, as tropical areasextend towards higher latitudes, mosquitoes

and other pests responsible for dengue, malaria, cholera and yellow fever in the tropics affect a larger portion of the

world's population, increasing the number of deaths from these diseases.

Surface Water QualityDespite that increase the magnitude and frequency of rainfall events, the water level in the lakes and rivers will decreaseFurther due to the evaporation caused by the temperature rise. Some permanent rivers flow may dry duringcertain times of year, and rivers whose waters are used forpower generation suffer a reduction inproductivity

terrestrial Ecosystems

By losing its moisture soils due to the evaporation, many areas now covered by vegetation could bedry, widening the desert region of the planet. oncontinental plains water shortages caused by theincrease in temperature could make these regions (asArgentina Pampas and the great plains of North America) inland unsuitable for livestock, the main line of the

economy for the inhabitants of these regions.

Some tips to reduce greenhouse gases and global warming

Reduce electric power

consumption

Acquire bagless products or recycled or recyclable bag
