Introduction

• Data:

Data is raw, unorganized facts that need to be processed. Data can be something

simple and seemingly random and useless until it is organized.

• Information:

When data is processed, organized, structured or presented in a given context so

as to make it useful, it is called information.

Ex: Average, Minimum, Maximum, Variance, and Index.

Page 5: Construction KPIs & Dashboards

• Report:

A document containing information organized in a narrative, graphic, or tabular

form. It may refer to specific periods, events, or subjects.

• Dashboards:

User interface that resembles, organizes, and presents current information in a

way that is easy to read and contains several widgets.

computer dashboard is more likely to be interactive.

• Metrics:

Metrics are parameters or measures of quantitative assessment used for

measurement, comparison or to track performance or production.

• KPIs:

Key performance indicators (KPI) are a set of quantifiable measures that a

company uses to gauge its performance over time. This could be in a strategic

level and in project level as well.

Introduction

• Common-Size Analysis:

A common-size analysis displays items as a percentage of one selected or

common figure. This type of analysis makes it easier to analyze values over time

and compare it with its peers. It’s also known as vertical analysis.

• Trend Analysis:

Trend analysis is the process of tracking the values over time in order to forecast

the future movement based on past data. Trend analysis is based on the idea that

what has happened in the past gives an idea of what will happen in the future.

Dashboard Characteristics

There are common characteristics that should be considered when you are

developing a dashboard:

• Express Briefly,

• Show the whole situation simply at one glance.

• Reasonably and logically organize widgets.

• Graphs, images, and charts are readable more than wordy clauses.

• Common axis increments such as yearly, 25%, etc. with no much gridlines.

• Outdoor images should be wide with no quality or safety violation.

• Keep color matching and better to select dark colors.

Dashboard Development Steps

The common sequence to develop a dashboard can follow the PDCA

management method :

1. Select appropriate group of metrics and KPIs.

2. Draft the dashboard layout (Organize the widgets)

3. Implement The approved layout

4. Review and test the outputs

5. Enhance the dashboard
