The Constitution is the “supreme law of the land.”

The Constitution lists fundamental rights for all citizens and other people living in the United States. Laws made in the United States must follow the Constitution.

The Founding Fathers of the United States wrote the Constitution in 1787.

The Founding Fathers wrote the Constitution at the Constitutional Convention. It was held in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

The Federalist Papers are a series of 85 articles or essays promoting the ratification of the United States Constitution written by Alexander Hamilton, James Madison, and John Jay.

The Constitution set up the three principal branches of the federal government, outlining their jurisdictions.

The Constitution defines the fundamental law of the United States federal government.

It establishes the individual rights and liberties of all Americans.

The Preamble to the United States Constitution is a brief introductory statement of the Constitution's fundamental purposes and guiding principles.

We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.

It means that the power to govern comes from the people, who are the highest power.

The Constitution can be modified or changed by ratified amendments.

The ‘Bill of Rights’ is the first 10 amendments to the Constitution.

James Madison, one of the Framers of the Constitution, wrote a list of individual rights and limits on the government.

The First Amendment of the Constitution guarantees and protects the following rights.

Freedom of speech

Freedom of religion

Freedom of assembly

Freedom of press

Freedom of petition the government

Freedom of Speech means the government can't stop people from saying what they think.

Freedom of Religion means you can practice any religion you want or not practice a religion at all.

Freedom of Press means the government can't control what the media writes.

Freedom of Assembly means people can protest by having rallies or marches.

Freedom of Petition the government means people can request that the government change things.

The first 10 amendments to the Constitution are called the Bill of Rights. They were added in 1791.

Since then, 17 more amendments have been added.

The Constitution currently has 27 amendments.
