B uilding of multicultural connections continued for the past three months. A tour of the HK Museum of History was organized with more than 70 migrant workers participating and learning more of Hong Kong’s past and of its culture. The tour was the third batch that was organized under the Connecting Cultures and Communities project. Participants from the third batch and those in the first two have also started discussing among their groups the concept and design of the CONNECTING CULTURES AND COMMUNITIES booth that they will set up in the Multicultural Festival set to be held on March 3. The festival is the culminating activity of the project that is hoped to draw in thousands of migrant workers and also local supporters to learn more and appreciate the multiculturalism of Hong Kong and the interconnections between peoples that make up our society. A pocket 2013 calendar with holder that contained the message of promoting and embracing multiculturalism was produced and distributed widely. Distribution among migrant organizations continues up to date. Meanwhile, the refrigerator magnet containing a similar message for multiculturalism that will be distributed to Hong Kong households is now in its production stage. The road towards the Multicultural Festival is steadily paved by the enthusiastic and informed participation of migrant workers.
