Executive Board Meeting
February 13, 2017

Call of Order:
Joe Guerra called the meeting to order at 7:17pm.
There was an introduction of new Board of Directors, Joe Guerra - CJSA President; Michael
Moriarty - CJSA Treasurer; Bob Goldman - North Central District Representative; Tom Hayden -
North Central District Vice President.
Minutes:
The minutes from the Jan. 28, 2017 Board of Director’s meeting were approved without
modification.
Monthly Financial Statement:
The monthly financial statements were approved.
There has been a bank account signatory review. All accounts are in the process of being
updated and need signatures to reflect the updates. Nine of the 11 bank accounts have already
been changed. It was noted that the districts are looking at credit cards. Michael Moriarty said
he would like to make modifications to the financial report over the next three months,
something that is meaningful to compare to the budget. The Investment Committee needs to
schedule a meeting. Moriarty will work with Terry Gillan.

The following re-occurring tournaments have been approved.
Clinton Invitational May 20-21, 2017
Cheshire Quinnipiac Valley June 3-4, 2017
Cheshire Invitational June 10-11, 2017
Newington Wrap-Up June 17-18, 2017
Registration:
The updated paid player registration is in the meeting packet.
Premier/Elite/Open State League:
2017 Premier League - 153 teams / 2016 Premier - 231 teams
2016-17 Elite League - 82 teams / 2015-16 Elite League - 86 teams
2016-17 Elite Development - 39 teams
2017 Open State League - 15 teams
There was discussion about the Premier Board of Governors and marketing the leagues to the
clubs.
Executive Director’s Report:
Josh Krusewski provided a written report. He said he would provide an update on futsal in
March. Krusewski updated the topics from US Soccer. He explained the differences between
standards and strongly recommended on the PDI. There is a min and max for goal sizes and
field sizes.
Tom Mattera motioned beginning Fall 2017 season that the following for all state
competitions be adopted.
Goal Size for 7 v 7, no smaller than 6.5 x 12 and no larger than 6.5 x 18
Goal Size for 9 v 9, no smaller than 6.5 x 18 and no larger than 7 x 21
Roster Size for 7 v 7, max of 12 players
Roster Size for 9 v 9, max of 16 players
The motion was seconded by Mary Kay Brophy. 13 were in favored of the motion; no one
was against or abstained. The motion passed unanimously.
The districts will help clubs that may have a financial need to meet the PDI updates. Krusewski
will send the PDI to the district VPs to send to clubs.
There was a discussion on coaching education courses to be the same price for all participants.
DOC Report:
Mario Prata provided a written report. He also provided an update on the ODP program.
SYRA Report:
Ron Packard asked for an update to the referee fees for state competition. He asked that the
updated PDI be sent to the CT State Referee Program so the certification and recertification
testing programs can be updated.
Unfinished Business:
Convention Update:
Dave Brouillette provided an update on the AGM. He is looking at feedback on how to improve
the event for next year.
Sports Illustrated Proposal:
Joe Zizik provided an update on the proposal. Some of the terms changed in the new proposal
from the original proposal. There is still an option to look at other registration systems.
Indoor and High School Registration Fee:
Both topics have been discussed in the past. The indoor facilities have to register their players.
Clubs need to register their high school players in the summer as recreational players.
Inner City:
Dave Brouillette will provide the proposal from last year at the March meeting.
President’s Remarks:
Joe Guerra provided a written report. He thanked the Office Staff, Maggie Girard, and the Board
for their help in the transition. Guerra was asked to reopen the Elite League Committee. He
also will look into what the background checks actually check. Also there was a question on
cybersecurity.

Good for Soccer:
Dick’s Sporting Goods – Dick’s discount days will take place on 2 weekends per year for CJSA
Members. They will not conflict with any club or district doing a Dick’s Day.
With all business being concluded, the meeting adjourned at 9:57pm.
The next meeting of the CJSA BOD will be March 13, 2017 at 7:15pm at the CJSA State Office,
11 Executive Drive, Farmington, CT.
