In addition, the flexibility of our airport network services allows you to meet changing business needs. It helps you react quickly to new events, for example by giving you quick and easy access to adequate network connectivity for kiosks, terminals and offices on temporary or seasonal routes.

Unsurpassed international reach

We can help you achieve your business and operational goals thanks to the variety of services in our network portfolio. We have an unsurpassed global network reach, through our partnership with Orange Business Services. In addition, we have a close relationship with airports worldwide, including our own staff at all major airports. It total, we provide shared network infrastructure in over 300 airports and network connections in more than 220 countries and territories.

Network connectivity is a vital part of your infrastructure and needs to be available across your entire organization including in airports. Without adequate connectivity in the airport, you will struggle to run centralized applications, such as check-in or reservations, access engineering data, or share flight scheduling and baggage data.

We have deployed infrastructure that offers highly secure and reliable network connectivity for your offices and devices at the airport. We deliver a range of services including shared IP access to your key vertical applications in the airport, and high quality IP connectivity for your back office, equaling what you have in your main offices.

Connectivity at the airport is also important to allow you to communicate with the many different stakeholders that are present on site. Reliable connectivity available anywhere at the airport will enable you to collaborate closely where required and to automate business processes. In order to facilitate this business improvement we have deployed wireless connectivity throughout airports in the last year, which enables your mobile workers to access applications from any location on site.

AIRPORThUbThe core of our offering at airports is AirportHub, which consists of managed resilient infrastructure at the airport. We provide connectivity to the Orange wide area network (WAN), routers, switches and firewalls, and fixed and wireless LAN in the airport. Our AirportHub allows you to easily integrate your offices, devices and equipment at the airport with the rest of your locations and IT infrastructure.

With AirportHub, we have essentially brought the network access nodes into the airport, so that you don’t need to procure your own leased lines to the local point-of-presence (PoP). This can save you up to 50% of your actual network deployment costs. It also allows you to obtain connectivity in the airport extremely quickly – in some cases this may be as easy as simple LAN configuration.

Secure and resilient

We use virtual LANs (VLAN) to separate airline traffic at the airport to enforce strict security. To ensure that the links are resilient, we use a mirror infrastructure in the airport and two different local carriers to link to two different Orange points-of-presence (PoP). A dual path is configured for each customer guaranteeing network connectivity even in case of failure of one of the links or elements of the infrastructure. Each router has exactly the same configuration and any switching between the two links will happen completely transparently to the user.

For business continuity, we operate two state-of-the-art Command Centers in Montreal and Singapore. They support the continuous global operations of over 300 airports and 2,000 customers. We proactively monitor the network and our AirportHubs and solve problems before they have an impact in the quality of our services– ultimately eliminating downtime.

We also have a network planning team that monitors the link capacity between the network PoP and the airport. They can take action to increase available bandwidth and identify any infrastructure bottlenecks that could cause an issue.

INTERNET SERvIcES ANd vENdOR mANAGEmENTAnother key component of our network portfolio are the Internet services that can be delivered anywhere you need, including airports. We have a relationship with Internet service providers (ISP) and other network suppliers in 170 countries. As part of our Internet service, we manage multiple ISPs for you worldwide, so that you have a single point of contact. We manage the contract with the local provider on your behalf and take care of ordering, billing and any operational issues.

Internet connectivity is essential for access to key services such as cloud applications, software-as-a-service or desktop virtualization. We can offer simple internet connectivity or an internet solution that can include security, encryption, offload and application performance. Our solution will comply with your site needs and security policy, whether that is via local, regional or central breakout to the Internet.

Thanks to our capacity to manage multiple network suppliers anywhere in the world, we can offer a full vendor management service. This has allowed us to offer new local network solutions, such as domestic networks in China and India.

We can also novate and manage all of your communications contracts and services, including Internet and other connectivity. So instead of having to manage a patchwork of local communications suppliers in multiple countries for Internet or other network access, we can act on your behalf. This is particularly valuable if you have many local connections in a single country.

We have deployed a worldwide corporate network solution for China Eastern Airlines. The network supports China Eastern’s global expansion as it merged with Shanghai Airlines and joined the Skyteam alliance in 2011.

The project included network and application optimization services. These secure solutions connected the airline’s Shanghai headquarters with Chicago, Hong Kong, Los Angeles, Paris, Seoul, Taipei and Tokyo and another 16 sites by the end of 2011. We also provided additional LAN services.

We have also deployed a proof of concept turnkey remote office infrastructure for the airline’s Japanese operations aimed at increasing China Eastern’s flexibility and speed in setting up new offices as the airline grows.

Our key network partner is Orange Business Services. It is one of the world leaders in communications services and offers fixed and mobile voice and data, VPN and managed services.
