Visit the Congregation homepage » From our Vicar Our new Clergy Associate Dear Friends and Family of the Cathedral Congregation, Canon Rose Duncan and I are thrilled to introduce you to the Cathedral’s new Clergy Associate, the Reverend Patrick Keyser. Patrick hails from Burgess, Virginia, and was graduated in May from Yale Divinity School. He was ordained a transitional deacon in March by the Diocese of Virginia and will be “priested” on September 7 in Goochland, VA. Rose and I spent the summer searching for the perfect person to support both our departments, complement our clergy team, and offer a deep and abiding spiritual presence; we believe we have found him! Patrick will spend 50% of his time working with me pastorally, leading retreats and Bible studies, pilgrimages (Alabama in October!), nurturing the 20&30s, and Christian formation. He will also support the worship department half-time with liturgical planning and preach and preside at services, especially canting Evensong. Patrick’s references, and even those not listed that I dug up myself, reported that he is introspective, compassionate, brilliant (fluent in Italian and Spanish) and is both left and right brained! St. Alban’s Sunday School and YouthGroup Registration Online NowOnce again this year, Cathedralfamilies are welcome to join theSunday School and youth classesheld next door at St. Alban’sChurch. Sunday School forchildren runs from age 2 ½ toGrade 5, and there are 4 differentyouth groups for 6th to 12thGraders. If you have questions, want to meet the leaders, or simply want to see the classroom spaces, there will be an Open House on September 8 anytime from 10:15 to 11:05 am. This year’scontinuing mission for ourenergetic Cathedral Scholars,intrepid congregation members,and Vicar Dana Corsello focused on work in the tiny town ofBartolo, high up in the mountains of inland Puerto Rico and stillsuffering two years after Hurricane Maria ravaged the island…Itwas an unforgettable week of service to our Lord and thebeautiful people of Puerto Rico. We will remember those weserved forever, as well as the lush tropical island, the comraderywith each other, all with the spirit of God’s love binding ustogether. Men’s Retreat: A Weekend of Sharing andFellowshipAmid soaring July temperatures inthe city, a group of Cathedral menjourneyed to the mountains forsome slightly cooler temperatures,comradery and reflection.
